I didn't say tourney results don't matter.  I am not even talking about how a fan base determines if its season is a success.  I am only talking about how teams are selected and seeded for the tournament.  You have failed to follow the topic, got all emotional when I pointed that out to you, yet you still don't seem to understand that.

You tried to narrow the scope of the argument by saying tournament results don't impact whether a team should have been in the tournament or not, and I completely disagree. I think tournament results add a lot more color, and pretty much every sports fan agrees with that. If after today you believe Marquette deserved a 9 seed I don't know what to tell you.

Right.  You don't know what to tell me because you are being emotional rather than logical.  What you are failing to understand is that selection and seeding is just about using the information that is in front of you.  But once those decisions are made, it comes down to a single elimination tournament where 18-22 year olds are playing a game. 

Using the results of those games to retroactively legitimize selection and seeding is illogical.  So if you want to be illogical, so be it.  But I won't be.  I am very much disappointed in the result, but Marquette was very much deserving of a #9 seed.

You should tell him that he's correct.

Seeding is about what you earned,  not about how good you are.  We earned a 9 seed.  We were not one of the top 36 teams in the country. Both things can be true
