I will be a little nervous on Selection Sunday regardless of what's out there.

I've been positive pretty much all season but I'm really being tested watching the effort and quality of play out there. Barring a major turnaround, this is a one and done team.

Vander Blue Man Group

I'm going to be illogically optimistic and predict a win in round 1.  Very few expected a tourney berth this year so be positive and have some fun with it.

mu_hilltopper

The only thing going for MU is that their first game isn't against a BE team.

Took half a season, but the BE figured out Marquette/Shaka.

BM1090

I'll predict a win in my bracket but not too confident that we'll put in a good performance.

fjm

I predict we will play a game. But I'm also suspecting that the players will only be bringing 2 pairs of undies at this rate.

Porky's Butthole

Who's to say they'll even make it?   If they don't they have no one to blame but themselves.  Pathetic Performance down the stretch.

Just don't call the team lazy.  😀  I'm not sure what you call a sluggish start to every road or neutral site game over the past several weeks, but whatever the appropriate adjective is for that type of play - please let me know.

PointWarrior

how about a team that is butter-fingered, bad passing, and misses a lot of bunnies?

Lazy isn't the right term anyways.  Uninspired is it. The team isn't playing for each other. Justin loves to drive and (usually hit) some tough shots rather than looking for teammates that are spaced out. Tyler wants to drive and trap himself on the baseline trying to find a circus pass rather than the right pass. Darryl is great when his shot falls, but isn't looking for anyone when he gets 3 people to collapse on him. Honestly, our best unselfish player right now is probably O-max. He drives and dishes and is starting to see confidence in his shot.

There's just no ball movement right now. We got fat off of Tyler's razzle dazzle passes and never evolved. To make it worse, now we're (primarily) 5 guys on the floor looking to get theirs like an AAU game. Hope they find the spark to look for each other again. Maybe the week off and some practice will help. Bring back Mrs. Shaka for the speech about letting their hair down and being accountable to each other.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

This was a Frankenstein roster put together at the last minute.  Expectations exceeded in my book.  Let's get our 1st W in the NCAA in a decade!

Hasn't been a decade yet!
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I don't expect us to get blown out but this team is done winning for the year.

I'm in the "just glad to be here" camp. I was not expecting March 17-18 to be nerve wracking days for me this season but I'll be happy to chew my nails down a bit next week.

Bingo.  Super-excited to be in the tourney again.  Hopefully we can come out loose instead of tight.

Marquette should be safe from Dayton barring crazy results the rest of the way.  Hoping for a good matchup against a 7 or 8 seed that fits our ideal opponent.

Someone who plays our style, but with less talent.
VIOLENCE!

Arizona's starting PG went down with a bad ankle injury. We'd probably want to be in their region as the 8-9.

That's what I was hoping to be, but I allowed myself get extra hopeful, excited, and confident. That's probably why I'm more frustrated after today's loss instead of being excited for Sunday. So, I guess, now I'll be excited for Sunday!

You know, you are absolutely right.  The only reason I'm feeling dejected and disappointed now is because of how unexpectedly good we were during that 7 game winning streak.

If you told me 19-12 and a tourney berth with a 9/10 seed before the season started, I would have said Shaka is off to a fantastic start.  The problem is that if you told me 19-12 and a 9/10 seed after the second Nova game, I would have thought what a collapse!
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

lawdog77

I feel this team, overall, will be Shaka's least talented. So I am happy as hell that we are making the tourney.

MUGoldenEaglesFam

This has been a fun ride this season.  To be going dancing in year 1 with pretty much a brand new team.  This team has been up and down as of late, but I feel like they can not only win a game, but if we get that A effort, tough defense, and knock down some shots like we did towards the end of the game today, we could pull off an upset and be playing into the second weekend.  Anything can happen in March.  I may be optimistic, but I believe in this team and have enjoyed the ride so far and look forward to watching Marquette Basketball play in the NCAA tournament.
