I'm no doctor (of medicine that is), but that does not seem to be a good idea. I really don't think anyone knows exactly what's next in line with Covid. Will it combine with other coronaviruses? Here's a good article written even before Omicron spread like wildfire.

Affirmative. The more spread, the more new mutations and the more chance for one that is even more lethal. We have been relatively lucky on the latter front with Omicron, but we might not be with the next one….

Flatten the curve

Try to stop spread and replication as much as possible - correct. It reduces the chance of more fatal variants.

If the Big East wants to be proactive to get as many games in as possible, MU @ Creighton on Wednesday would make a lot of sense.

Looks like Creighton’s arena is open that evening. Both programs had their midweek games canceled due to Covid.

Agreed. And would open both teams up on the weekend of February 20.

And why the overreaction? If Omicron causes only mild symptoms,

It causes mild symptoms if you have had it before or are vaccinated.  Breakthrough cases.    The symptoms are the same as the others for the unvaccinated and immuno-compromised.      And it is the most contagious so far.

Creighton wont agree to that unless they can refill that weekend immediately with the game that was just cancelled. At the end of the day C.R.E.A.M. and these games arent empty like last year.

No need to cancel the game. You can try to schedule someone else later, if not, MU and Creighton just play three times.

Might be the year to split the Big East into West and East for scheduling purposes.

West:  Creighton, Marquette, DePaul, Butler, Xavier

East: Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Villanova, UConn and Seton Hall

Reschedule the BEast so that everyone in their division plays each other, to the extent possible. You play everyone else in the conference once. There may be some odd games and odd scheduling because the conference has 11 teams. The goal would be to keep teams closer to home.

Worth a try if done quickly.

Outdated protocols need to be changed. We don’t need to test like it’s march 2020.

Postponed means it's put off 'til a later time. With all these postponements, it seems unlikely that all these games will ever be played, given the scheduling difficulties and the constraints of time. Why not be honest and call it a cancellation? Are they trying to not hurt people's feelings?

And why the overreaction? If Omicron causes only mild symptoms, but confers immunity to Covid,
why not let it spread? That would take care of the unvaccinated, and perhaps we'd have a real chance to see the end of this thing.

And we could finally rid ourselves of a lot of those pesky old folks once and for all..

Marquette already plays Creighton on Saturday in Milwaukee.

No way they'd want to play twice in the same week.

Makes scouting easier.

I doubt it happens but it should. If the focus is on getting games in, it makes perfect sense.

CDC has reduced recommended isolation time from 10 days down to 5 today.

For people who aren't symptomatic.

This is just the first of many.  We've got 6(maybe more) breakthroughs at my work.  Everyone is fully vaxed or boosted.  Omicron doesn't care.  Gonna he a really long or really short season

Wrong. Why are sport teams, for example, who are vaccinated, continuing to get covid? I wish the vaccines worked great...they don't. They lessen symptoms and hospitalizations, but they don't eliminate the disease. There is, fortunately, a phenomenon called "herd immunity" and that's our best hope, aina?

They took Theo last year, you want them to take Justin this year?!?
