Way-too-early starting five:

Morsell (G)
Elliott (G)
Mitchell (G)
Lewis (F)
Kuath (F/C)

Of course, this assumes that Garcia is gone.  "Starting" in November may not mean a whole lot with the depth and inexperience on this roster.

If you play small, fine, think Prosser will start and I have heard Ellis is the real deal. Fun to finally see competition up and down the line.

Kolek over Mitchell but it's a lot of guessing at this moment

I guess since Mark Prosser only played one year at Marist he still has eligibility.  Especially with the free covid year.  Can act as the on-court coach!

When you write "the real deal" what are we talking here?  Potential hammer impact?

I do agree with you regarding O-Max.   I'm also wondering if Kolek could be better than people think running the Point?

GoldenWarrior11

Kolek will be a starter in game one.

I would think so.
Only known quantity as outside shooter on the roster, other than perhaps Greg (hoping his late-season shooting stroke wasn't just a hot streak).

Kur Kuath is from Khartoum?  That's badass... nickname possibilities?

Over the last six games last year, he shot 14-for-27, i.e. 51.8%.

I didn't realize he was hitting at that clip .
Greg  was getting clean looks and was healthy for probably the first time in his career at MU.

Prior to those last six games, he was shooting .410 from 3, and that's pretty darn good in its own right. And as 9-9-9 said, Elliott's at .423 for his career.

Glad he'll be back, and hope he has his healthiest season yet.

Silkk the Shaka

I think the lineup seeing the most minutes at the end of the season will be Morsell, Ellis, Elliott, Lewis, OMP. The defensive switching potential & passing with that combo is tantalizing.

That would be a very competitive lineup

Uh-oh.  The last time a MU player hit 50%+ from three was Markus Howard his freshman year, and he never hit above 50% again in his career.

Yes, I thought I could dispense with the teal this time.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

OMP is gonna be in the starting lineup for sure. Excited to see him in action this weekend
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

The players I have heard the most positive things about are Kolek, Ellis, Mitchell, Lewis, and O-Max. I don't know about starting, but barring injuries, I think those 5 +Morsell will be our top 6 players in terms of minutes played by the end of the season. Kuath probably next in line due to size. Elliott, Ighodaro, Jones, and Joplin battling it out for the last two spots in the rotation. Itejere to redshirt. Those are my guesses for now.

Reasonable guesses. I'm thinking replace Kolek or Ellis with Morsell, and that's the starting 5; hard to imagine Morsell coming here for one final season thinking he's not a 30-mpg guy. I also agree that starting is not very important; even most players now realize that minutes matter more.

I can see Shaka giving the starting "honor" to Elliott, a senior leader. But unless Elliott really does have a whole other gear we haven't seen (or have seen only in very brief flashes), I don't think he'll be a big-minutes guy. One sign we're a better team would be if he didn't have to play more than 10-15 minutes most games. And I really like Greg as a player and a warrior.

.

If your trying to change MU culture, Elliott is a weak link on Defense. To soft, really a role player.  Good 6th man, I agree 15 a game, unless he really added some weight and muscle this summer

I missed this...where is he playing?

Its DJOver

Greg may never be a lock down defender, but there is something to be said about his experience.  He's played more Beast games than most of our roster has played collegiate games in general.  I'd also be extremely hesitant to put any freshman in the starting line-up as whenever a Freshman doesn't look lost, it should be seen as a plus.  At least for day one I'd guess; Darryl, Greg, Tyler, Justin, and Kur, with O-Max first off the bench.
