OK.....I will bring up the question no one wants to bring up.....

Clearly he is not a Shaka-type of athletic forward.....

He does have grit but he does not have other aspects of the game.....

He also "bowed out" when the team needed him the most......

Are we as a "Marquette community" OK with telling him that he will not be playing under the new regime and should look to transfer elsewhere......

Difficult discussion......But probably conversations that are going on behind the scenes as we speak......

Did he bow out?  I thought someone may have mentioned something about him not being allowed to be in NYC.

What do you mean "bowed out" maybe don't make assumptions on stuff we don't know.

Big if true!

I guess Wojo was'nt considered part of "the "roster"......

Also I said:   "are we as a Marquette community" and I mean essentially pulling a "Crean"?????

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

With 4 open scholarships, I don't think Shaka needs to free up any spots this year.

Everyone gets a chance this year to show what they've got. Then see what happens next year.

Is Shaka going to "buzz-cut" him?  I would hope he's honest and upfront with him about playing time possibilities and make it a meritocracy.

You need to step down. Let Shaka decide who plays for him.

Welcome to MUScoop, Shaka.  We're also known as the Coaching Combine for MU Men's Basketball.  Very little gets done in the men's program without it being approved and acted upon here first (or maybe second, or last, or sometime), so just go with the flow emanating from here, and you should do as well as can be expected (or maybe not.  You'll soon find out.).

I just hope Scoop approves his timeout talks that are 'overheard' on TV....

A silly criticism of Wojo were his time out talks.

And yet, so incredibly warranted — a prescient warning of what was to come. Stiff.

We do not really know, if Perez is or is not Shaka's kind of player. I suspect he is not going to start for Shaka and maybe he will not even play significant time. However, he is a very decent player to have coming off the bench when you need the 11th man to contribute. Not everyone is going to play, but having somebody in the 11th through 13th roster spot that actually can contribute, if needed, is a valuable member of the team.

4everwarriors

Hell, he barely played for Woj. Only played the time he did because other guards sucked ass so badly. Adios and next man up, hey?

Considering Lewis and Garcia (hopefully) will be considered Freshman this year, we will likely have a lot of guys in that class already. Getting rid of Perez and signing another Freshman will lead to imbalance down the road. If they were going to replace Perez, it would have to come from another upperclassmen I would imagine. In any case, I'd be very surprised if Perez saw any significant minutes next year.

I believe the correct term is "Shake him loose"

Why are we considering that J Lew and DG will be considered Freshmen?

Whoa whoa whoa! When the hell did this happen? Perhaps Coach Smart isn't interested in your opinion on personnel matters but many here believe their counsel to be both insightful and impactful.

Advice from the uninformed can be just as meaningful as those from one with actual knowledge. The words of a fool who presupposes wisdom is a lighthouse that cuts through the fog to steer the ship away from the shoals of disaster and Scoop has many such experts. Coach Smart would do well to check on Scoop periodically to hear these pearls of wisdom to inform his stewardship of our beloved Warrior program.

All players got a year that didn't count towards their eligibility this year.

We don't know if that's going to be heavily done or not at the high level schools.

So far it seems Marquette told all seniors to take a hike.

Again, the assumption is that Shaka will only bring in high-4-stars and 5-stars, that he doesn't need or want any role players, any guys who are "good in the room," etc.

So adios to Perez, Oso, Elliott, Akanno, Kam Jones ... because Shaka is gonna have 8 or 9 new 5-stars playing alongside DJ, Garcia, Lewis and Mitchell this season.

Can't wait to see us win the 2021 national title, nu?!?!

Correct. Those that defended Wojo against the criticism used the argument that he said something meaningful, or tactical, or strategic in the nontelevised portion of the TO.

Results on the floor didn't support that opinion.

I didn't really "defend" what he said in the cuddles. What I said was that years and years of watching the cuddles of coaches from all over the country never gave one iota of insight into any real strategy or motivational stuff. Whether we're talking about K or Beard or Self or Cal or Wright or Wojo or any of 'em ... it was all just a few seconds of coach-speak every time.

So of all the things to criticize Wojo for, him saying the same dopey coach-stuff that everybody else did seemed ridiculous IMHO.

How dare you suggest that Wojo's televised time out exhortations were without merit!

Hearing Wojo implore his charges to, "Play hard! You gotta play hard!" took me straight back to Fallujah. I was ready to kick some ass, I tell you!

It was nowhere near as good as hearing Mick Cronin say, "Play really hard! You really gotta play hard!"

Those "reallys" ... now THOSE were inspiring cuddles!
