Good win against a capable team .
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Can’t knock Chapman's success but I sure don’t understand why Fisher only played two minutes after the game he had Sunday. Marquette was killed on the boards 40 to 30.

Derrick Effen Wilson!

He has made as many 3s in the last two games as he did in his first 3 seasons at Marquette. Stepped confidently into 'em. Good for him ... and good for the Golden Eagles!

Jamil has been clutch in the TBT over the years. Reminds me of Davidson!

Fun game, even if our shooters were cold. Hoping that Cook doesn't have an injury that will linger.

Derrick has had quite the impressive Euro career.  Last year he was over 40% from 3.  The year before he averaged 20 points per game.

Did you see fischers 2 minutes? Very reminiscent of his time at mu.

Nice. Good guy who played his arse off at Marquette. Some guys are late bloomers ... some are VERY late bloomers!

I see we only took five free throws??  WTH?  Any reason we weren't in attack mode?  I suppose a win is a win but do we need to step it up?

The other team had legit Players . Hard to just impose your will the further the team goes in the tournament .

Shoulda been 7, but refs didnt know we were in bonus at end of 2h
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

DJO’s offense seems missing and unfortunately Vander hasn’t been able to entirely pick up that slack but good game for the team nonetheless. Really would have liked seem to have seen Cook play at Marquette, man is he fun to watch

Ya.. ...include me in the Elgin Cook fan club.  Would have loved the guy in a MU uni.  It sounds like we're missing DJO which is understandable.  Hopefully we get things clicking on all cylinders from here on out.

Minor nit: Refs don't keep track of that kind of thing. It's up to the scorer's table to sound the horn and let the refs know it was a bonus situation. And both teams usually have a rep at the table, too, in part to make sure the official scorer doesn't mess up.

Fake news, as Luke averaged about 28 minutes per game in his 3 seasons at MU.

Vander has been inactive at the competitive level since December 2019. He is still a little rusty, however is  working hard to play the defensive roles Chapman needs him to play.

I think he may do well offensively the next game , as the scouting report may not focus on him.

Big 3 by Derrick Wilson, followed by 3 for Jamil Wilson and MU escapes!

Marquette did not play well.  The 4Q was a mess with everyone launching 3s.  No one could hit - and that was true on both sides.  For some reason, no one from Marquette ever took it to the hole so it was just a matter of hoping the shots would eventually go down.  To me, Derrick Wilson had the big shot.

Thought MU was decent actually. Great hustle on D. Some shots weren't falling but I think Jimmy V was pretty good for being such a new team.

I’m not sure how much of a role it plays, but to me it seems like Chapman being the coach is a nice advantage for the MU team. He seems to know his stuff and has the perfect demeanor for this type of event. Calm, but will challenge the guys.  Some of the other coaches seem to just be friends of some guys on the team.

Yeah, that was funny.

Does anybody here know Joe personally, or know a lot about him? Does he have any interest in getting into coaching?

I'm not sure how much these kinds of events tell us about actual X-and-O coaching ability -- maybe a lot, maybe a little, as I said I'm not sure -- but Joe definitely seems to have the right demeanor for it, and he seems to have the respect of the professional basketball players under his charge. That means a lot.

He runs his own respected basketball academy in WI and (I believe) coached an AAU program.  I have no doubt that he has the X-and-O ability to coach at even the college level.

That being said, those academies/clinics can be a pretty big cash cow, so the financial motivation to coach a "team" may not be there.  He's coaching and getting paid to do so, just without the added pressure of W-L results.

Joe is a great guy but he just with Travis and another person, built Athletic Performance Center.  Coaching at least 75 teams in AAU so right now I do not see him
leaving that situation, maybe later on yes, but has a nice job right now.  Never know the future.
