I have to say I'm super surprised by this.

Still could see him getting dismissed or resigning after the season, but I'm sure they want to capitalize on the best this season can be.

Fair enough.   Finish the season and then figure it out.

Good.

Lib tears are delicious

this "lib" isn't crying but rather supportive of the decision, especially in light of the comments by Marcus Zegarowski. Don't lump all of us on the left in with progressives.

It's also pretty obvious that CU made this decision in consultation with the players. If they signed off on it, especially the Black players, then who am I to oppose it.

Exactly.

Same here. I'm a lib who thought the suspension was nonsense.

Ignore, yeah you don't care but  ::), could you be more tone deaf.  I'll let Creighton decide what's best for Creighton.  Another post that won't age well, what happened to the T loves the Big East guy (or girl?)

Good for CU. A poor choice of words and a heart felt apology should not out weigh the great guidance, support and opportunities that he has personally given young men of color for years. I dare say he has done as much if not more for African American young men that anybody on this website, myself included.

Pretty sure Jesmu was being sarcastic. And the poster you're questioning is now "The Big East" or occasionally he's Hermain Cain when he rises from the dead.

Personally, I think the punishment was appropriate and hopefully he moves forward a little wiser and a little more careful of his word choices.  He has done a lot for Creighton, and if the comments turn on him and hurt recruiting, then you can move on from him.

At first, it sounded really bad because I don't recall ever hearing the "stay on the plantation" metaphor.  However, "don't go off the reservation" is something I've heard often in my time and I wouldn't be stunned if at some point I used it, without considering it's etymology.

TyTy Washington, #30 player in class of 2021, de-commits from Creighton.

Not a surprise. Whether you personally think what he said is nothing or something is irrelevant. When players start saying no thanks to him, it's time to pull the plug.

MU offered him.

If he signed his NLI, Marquette can't sign him.  BE rule (that should go away.)

Looks like he's from Chandler, AZ. Stan would have been able to knock on a few doors I would imagine. The current rule of BE transfers aside.

To be fair, he didn't say why.

For sure. I have no idea if it's related to what McDermott said. I just thought this was the best thread  for the news.
Could be a kid taking advantage of an opportunity to move to a higher-profile program (looking at you, Tyshawn Taylor).

We were pretty heavy on him originally. Wouldn't mind reaching out if NLI stuff doesn't get in the way.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Creighton never announced a signing of an NLI by Washington. Seems like Ty Ty gave his commitment around the time the others in his recruiting class signed.

Assuming wojo gets fired, the first filter for our coaching search should be that they're black. The optics of having a white man being in charge of a bunch of mostly black men is just going to continue to get worse and worse. Will be a huge liability in recruiting.
