That was bad. Can't lose that game if you want to make the tournament. Came out flat. Came alive in the second half, but overcoming a 15-point deficit is just too much. The biggest problem for me is that St. John's was just the better team. Better, quicker, deeper. Anderson has been there a year and his team looks farther along than ours after 6.5 years.

The Johnnies are really fun to watch. Champagnie & Posh are really enjoyable players. Not sure how far Anderson's style will carry them, but that's a fun bunch to watch.

Good news is more and more stakeholders appear to be getting on-board.
Please tell me you are not referring to scoopers?

Is this a bad time to mention SJU is missing their second leading scorer?

Oso is so bad he gets zero of the Lewis minutes?

Most definitely not. Scoop is not always reflective of perceived real-world logic.

Every single unnatural carnal knowledgeing game we turn the ball over on our under basket out of bounds play.
Twice today. Killed us.

Thrice (given the arrow).

DUNKS45

Let's face it, they can't inbound the ball and not just this game. Loved the way they played aggressively in the second half. Its very frustrating to watch but I'll never give up on my team.

Three bench players only shot the ball once combined.

And that was a total brick.

Yup. Garcia wide open at the FT line with his defender shielded behind. Pass was terrible.

Hmm, this play, Ft's near end of game (Prov, WI). Tight collar?

Marquette has lost three consecutive games to sub-75 teams for the first time in 15 years.

Great stat, GW.

DoctorV

Sure nice second half effort but yet again didn't have it when it mattered the most.

Having 0 bench points when you're down 15 to St John's in the first half is criminal. I know they came back with the starters but come on Wojo.

You're team is under .500 and you've got three of your scholarship players- a top 100 recruit, a 14ppg scorer from a smaller conference, and a redshirt that's been with your program for a year and a half- that barely get in the game.

Did I mention that this is happening while your team isn't winning games with the same lineups you keep putting out there?? I'm not sure you would have won a lot more but you'd at least have fresher legs. End of the season collapse year after year and then this stinker, gtfo.

Speaking of criminal- as a head coach it's your job to always be on top of your game. There was a stoppage and an out of bounds play with 3 seconds left. You've got a 47% three point shooter on the bench and you're down two and you leave him on the bench? Absolute joke

There is no better time than now to move on, no matter who or how many transfer out. This university needs a fresh start

Big Papi

The high water mark for this program is to make the tournament once or twice every 4 years and this ain't the year.

This game was lost the last few minutes of the second half.  Akanno looked lost out there.  Turnover and completely lost his man on defense.  I don't know why he received any minutes.

NickelDimer

I'll be alive longer than Wojo will be MU's head coach (God willing). I'm just waiting him out at this point

Watched the UConn women before our game and couldn't help but think as I watched them that as far as fundamentals go, they are better than our team.

After the last play today, I was reminded of another quote about the UConn women's preparation.
One of their players said in an interview that a lot of coaches practice until the team gets it right. Auriemma coaches until they can't get it wrong.

I guess there's coaching, and then there's coaching.

PuertoRicanNightmare

I really like this team. They're just horribly coached.

100%. I think this team is actually a really poor fit for Wojo. Probably why I like this roster

Agreed.  This team has talent and a lot of positives.  That our biggest wins were early in the year and now we can't beat or barely squeak by against the worst Big East basketball programs speaks volume to how bad they are being coached and developed.

The over/under on wins the rest of the year is 1.5

You're right. But anyone - before today - that thought this was a tournament team, hasn't been paying attention. Bottom feeders in the BE are not suddenly going to rise up and get in the Tournament.

This is simply a bad team with a bad coach. There is no way around that. Changes need to be made at the top. And it doesn't matter how many assistants go with him.

cheebs09

Recently, we play maybe 15 good, high energy minutes a game. That was enough to comeback against Georgetown. It won't win many games in the Big East.

Win this, beat Butler twice, beat DePaul, win one of of the other four, you're in the mix. Win two of them and you're in. And when you're 8-8 and have a favorable schedule, getting in has to be the goal. Especially for a team that was 5-2 with two top-30 wins.

I don't expect this team to dance. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't have been the goal and achieving that goal should've started today.

Tru dat, well said.  It also doesn't help that we cannot hit open triples.

WarriorPride68

Marquette had not had a losing season since Mike Dukiet last season in 1998-99 before Wojo arrived. Potentially punching his 2nd such season this year

Herman Cain

The team played hard in the second half. Three game losing streaks happen in this league. Have to make sure the streak  doesn't get to four games.

I don't understand the shock/complaining about the lack of bench scoring.  Realistically we have 7.5 legitimate players, and one of those (our best bench player) was out today.  The only legitimate player on the bench was Elliott, who is horribly inconsistent.  Where else was all of this bench scoring going to come from?  Torrence?  Akkano?  Oso?
