This thread can't be retired--how are we going to follow Joey's path to the NBA???

Sam was at Joey’s game last night with his parents.  Afterwards, the family wrote a letter to tournament officials

Priceless!

It would probably be fine with everybody, including me, if this thread is retired.

Of course, nobody, including you, is required to click on the thread. You can retire this thread -- or any other -- for yourself forever by simply never clicking on it again for the rest of your life.
I 100% agree. I've never bashed or criticized this thread. IMHO it has run its course but I'm not calling for it to be locked.

I actually believe that Joey does have a path to the NBA. He's 6-9, a decent defensive rebounder, and obviously most importantly an elite shooter -- .461 from 3 in his final season, when he averaged 5 attempts/game. He would have to be very lucky to find a team that could absorb his long list of shortcomings.

But hey, Novak couldn't play a lick of D and he had a 10-year career, all because of one skill.

I'm looking forward to how long Herman can keep it alive. Heck, that he is posting at all is a medical miracle.

I don't disagree, but it's a different league from when Novak entered. Frankly I'm surprised Sam has stuck, though he always made up for his lack of lateral quickness with his mind. Used angles very well defensively.

That’s why I think Joey could make it.  He falls down at good angles to play defense

Sam’s quitting on the Celtics? I blame Markus.

It is a different league -- one that values 3-point shooting even more now.

But yes, defensively, Sam is Gary Payton and Bill Russell combined compared to Joey. It will be interesting to see if that scares away all 30 teams.

In an odd twist, Sam wrote a letter to Izzo blaming Spartan players for missing shots since Joey didn’t have any assists.  Chaos in East Lansing

Sam 26 6 and 5 in 38 minutes. Excellent regular season for Sam.

Celts players have commented that they have confidence in Sam  , if needed,  in playoffs.

Congrats to Sam on a solid season as an NBA role player. He probably will play very little in the playoffs, but he has earned his contract. I'm not surprised at all he's having an NBA career.
