We need to go back to the days of wooden racquets and white knit sweaters. Too many fist pumps and cocky celebrations for my tastes, and hitting a serve over 100 mph is just being flashy and not a courteous opponent.

Keys dropped out.

Great job Tommy

Americans eliminated from the men's French open.
But very decent showing with two making it to the quarterfinals.
Four American men ranked in the top 16 of the world.

I miss shoothoops' 700-word dissertations on why Juan Martin del Potro is an all-time great.

I was wondering what happened to him, only to look and realize that he's been gone for over a year. He got a timeout when panda and him kept going at it right?

Another guy is PGsHeroes, whose been gone since telling withoutbias to kill himself.  ::)

Amusing reads. Also he was almost right, JM Del Potro could have easily been an all time great if he wasn't injured over half his career.

Disappointed.  I really thought Tiafoe had a good chance.  Paul has been dealing with an abdominal injury.  And Alcaraz is obviously a problem.

You're right.  She absolutely can beat Coco.  Although I think Gauff has the slight edge on a slower surface.

Lots of athletes in lots of sports could have been great if not for something or other.

Didn't realize that about PGs. You're right about shoothoops and panda.

He popped up under a new alias in the Marquette Women's BB thread early in the spring, posting style was unmistakable.  Shocked it went no further

If Boisson advances, Coco must be locked in and composed from the first point tomorrow.  The French fans are going to try and rattle her like they have with Andreeva.   The way to erase these people, and Boisson, is to take control early and simply punish her relentlessly from all spots on tbe court.

They were fine.  Maybe a tiny bit over the top but it wasn't egregious.  Still, introducing their Cinderella to immediate darkness is a sensible solution.  :)

It is an incredible story.  We're talking about a WC who entered the tournament #361 in the world.

Quick edit:  the match is tomorrow.

If she's French, she probably already has herpes

*sadly* let's go Novak

If Zverev wasn't such a POS I'd be cheering for him to break through.

Shaka Shart

That break point save from Djokovic at 3-2 is one of the best points I have ever seen. Good lord.

Not surprised with this result but Sinner is tattooing balls with ridiculous velocity and consistency.  Can Novak dictate points and maybe use some short angles?  Can he be effective at the net vs absurd power?  Mixing speeds on the groundies might be an option?  Whatever happened to the moon ball?

MuggsyB

BAM!!!  Great job by Coco. Now she must dispose of Sabalenka.  She's more than capable.
