Not that this has any bearing on anything, but I’m curious why the team doesn’t have a more creative nickname.  Most of the others seem to.  It’s kind of like how the mascot is just called “the golden eagle”.  Most other mascots I can think of have an actual name (Bucky, Bernie, Bango, etc).

They were one of the first big alumni teams, I think they just went for the easy name and stuck with it. I also wonder if it's somewhat deliberate as they are the generation that has always been Golden Eagles.

It still bugs me that their logo is of a bald eagle, not a golden eagle.

It's like having the nickname of "The Huskies" and having a Samoyed as your logo.
Have some patience, FFS.

Maybe it's just a logo of an older golden eagle.  Like the players.

With a bit of grey up top.

There's three alternate teams right?

I wonder what procedures they have in place to deal with false positive tests. Testing that many people is going to lead to some false positives.

If absolutely no positive tests/cases is going to be the requirement/baseline for anything to proceed/continue, then we should plan on no sports or group activities of any kind for another 6+ months.

Well, it will have to be.  It's a respiratory disease and highly contagious.  If half the team is out 'injured' then we should look forward to nothing but exhibition games.

Hard to isolate everyone associated with the teams and their families.

Hards - I agree. A team needs to be banned when somebody tests positive because of the close contact inherent in the sport.

To me the more interesting question once the tournament begins is whether recent opponents should be banned as well. We know that there is a lag between contracting the virus and testing positive, and opponents in a basketball game are banging into each other, falling on top of each other and breathing all over each other.

I am desperate to see team sports again, but I worry that this could fall apart quickly.

Just play the whole thing in three days!

At the NCAA level, you're 100% right. If a player or few players test positive, you certainly can't put them on the court with another team. And anyone they've been in close contact with (like all their teammates) will also need to quarantine.

If it's midseason, anyone they've played against recently will also need to quarantine for at least a few days, so any team they played against in the last week?

A couple positive tests at the big eight team MTEs could completely cripple the sport for weeks right in the heart of non-con play. Do you reschedule hundreds of games? Cancel them?

It's easier when you have pros that can be brought to one location, like the NBA at Disney or TBT, but none of that is an option for collegiate sports.

In theory there will be no recent opponents, because you immediately go home, if you lose.

I think he's asking what if a losing teams member tests positive

Getting more glad by the day that we're on the opposite side of the bracket from Overseas Elite. They've added Joe Johnson, Jarrett Jack, & Jordan Crawford. That's a lot of NBA experience.

It wouldn't shock me. They keep adding new names, maybe they know he will be there and are trying to downplay it. My main hope right now is that the Golden Eagles TBT team is going to benefit more from consistency and that Overseas Elite may be adding too many names without regard for how they fit together.

Luke gives the Golden Eagle TBT team the Big Man dimension it has not had in years past.  The other teams will have to respect his inside scoring ability which should really open things up for our bevy of long range bombers to get clean looks.
