As expected, the NCAA heavily qualified all of this and made it fairly clear their primary concern is avoiding litigation, not equitable labor practices. I won't link it here, but Myron has a lot of very strong points on this on Twitter.com. Hopefully a good article forthcoming.

That's fine, I appreciate greater transparency on what businesses to support.

And I will pay an obscene amount of money on college basketball and football games, and I don't even like college football

LOL, what?  I love Val, but that is a dumb statement.  Just figure out a "fair" players share and divide it equally between all D1 scholarship athletes in whatever sport.  You don't need a union to do that.

I follow your logic but think about SEC football players or Duke basketball players; they will want more than a Patriot League field hockey player.

The whole thing is about to become a hot mess.

Also, if these players are getting paid, from the school and endorsements, is it fair to criticize their play on the court. I've never been a fan of that but if they earn money for good play shouldn't they be allowed to be called out for bad play?

You're right we never call out Marquette players for bad play. Worth paying them so I can start.

And they will. Football players share football video game proceeds, basketball players share basketball game proceeds, etc. When a video game company features Patriot League field hockey, they will participate as well.
