Work in the healthcare field. Absolute over reaction. But will be effective in stopping the spread.

I am a physician.  I have ordered the test a few times in the last week.  All of this is such an over reaction.  In the past 2 weeks I have had patients + flu die with no concerns at all.  This is all over blown by the media and no noone can actually make a informed decision due to "optics".

LOL.

You gotta at least put NCAA lack of coordination on this one on your list as well. Tim Brando was going off about this at the end of the broadcast for the STJ/Creighton game.

Don't need to be an expert to understand basic transmission.

So does St. John's hang a banner?  They were leading by 3 at the half.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Any read on why they were playing the second half?

Billy u are an idiot, had u been president or whomever is in charge of Corona virus testing how many test kids would u have ordered to have had had on shelves two months ago?  Or are millions of test kits able to be produced daily?  Plz mr monday morning quarterback tell us manufacturing capacity, lead times and everything u would have done differently

We had the tests, the government just wasn't distributing them. And then it was slowing up the development of new tests:

Ever since the first case of Covid-19 was detected in the US on January 20, the government's blunders in creating and distributing diagnostic testing have greatly handicapped our response to the growing pandemic. Eaker's story is not unique: Reports suggest providers everywhere are struggling to help their patients, while receiving frustrating guidance from authorities.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the federal government's top infectious disease scientist, called the testing situation a "failing" at a congressional hearing on Thursday.

And yet the Utah Jazz were able to get 58 players tested within a matter of hours.
Wonder why?

"overblown by the media"

Yes.  I'm sure Italy is shut down, we are stopping flights from Europe, etc. because of the "media."

Look, if you want to say that some of the actions we are taking are likely not going to have much impact on the spread of the disease, then fine.  If that qualifies as an "overreaction" in your eyes, so be it.  But blaming the media?  That's just bullsh*t.  And comparing to flu?  That's even worse.

It truly is.  Media drives panic.  If you are looking at deaths, even in all countries around the word, still not close to the Flu on a yearly basis.

Yeah no kidding.  People need to stop being so dumb.  When everything settles down, will some of the measures we have taken turn out to maybe have been unnecessary?  Sure.  But to keep this from continuing to spread to more and more people and to get it to the point where it actually does settle down, you need to be proactive and not reactive.

Look at the rate dude.

Seriously, you can't be an actual doctor right?

You can't look at the rate of deaths, there has been minimal testing.   34,000 people died just in the US from flu in 2019.

The rate in South Korea, which has the best testing environment, is less than 1%. I think I last saw something like 0.7%. So yeah, much higher than the flu. But also much lower than initial estimates of 3%-4%.

And..... South Korea has a more authoritarian response to the virus than we do.  Not to mention, we're less healthy as a nation all together.

I do think we're going a bit overboard, but cancelling is the right decision.

is this one good enough, or does it fall under "fake news?" The fact is our government has let our country down.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/12/politics/congress-outrage-testing-covid-19/index.html

As he left Thursday's briefing, GOP Rep. Mark Walker of North Carolina said there is "a growing frustration among members as a whole to get more definitive answers" from the administration about testing capabilities.

He said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention "struggled to give a really strong answer" on why the United States hasn't been able to duplicate testing that is being used in places such as South Korea.

Right.  That's still a lot of people dying.  So our resident doctor probably needs to stop saying its media driven.
