Why is it unreasonable to think that no players have the virus? Even China at its peak had an infection rate of less than 1/100th of percent of the population.  Italy now is around 1/50th of a percent of the population infected. And the US has 1,200 cases out of 300 million people. Where in these rates would you find it probable that someone involved with the BET is infected?

Thank you.

that's only because we have so few testing kits, thanks to governmental incompetence, that we don't actually know how many people are infected. I guarantee the infection rate is far higher.

I think someone who is in the building right now unknowingly has the disease.  MSG is near a hot zone of infection, the disease is transmitted easily, etc.  China didn't get as widespread as it could have because they were absolutely authoritarian on how they managed it.

Butler and Providence (Game 2) told to wait at hotel.  Could be shutting down shortly.

My guess is the Johnnies and Creighton game is cancelled at half time and the BET with it.

Sounds like BET will be cancelled at half time per the talking heads on twitter.

Good. Terrible look for the BE to try to forge ahead while all other major conferences cancel.

Rumors that it was Dolan being an ass and insisting on full rent and anticipated revenue share.  Just a rumor on Twitter FWIW.

Looking at infection rates in all countries with reported cases, why would you think there's a chance that someone in MSG has the virus? And how easily is the disease really transmitted? Didn't we just see that only 1 other NBA player tested positive after the Gobert test? Guys that have been in close contact with him for an extended period of time are testing negative.

Precautionary measure are logical and likely necessary to prevent the spread of the disease from people who don't know they have it. But all these wild assumptions about massive infection rates and exponential spreading don't seem based in the reality we've actually experienced globally.

I explained why I believe this.  You believe otherwise.

And using the Utah Jazz as some sort of representative of how easily this is transmitted is beyond dumb.

Yet. This disease has doubled every 6-10 days in its infancy.

Wait, using an actual case with a high rate of tested people to understand the rate of transmission is beyond dumb? How does that work? Sure, these guys are probably healthier than the average person, but I don't know of any other scenarios where such a high concentration of people have been tested that have been exposed to the virus.

Billy u are an idiot, had u been president or whomever is in charge of Corona virus testing how many test kids would u have ordered to have had had on shelves two months ago?  Or are millions of test kits able to be produced daily?  Plz mr monday morning quarterback tell us manufacturing capacity, lead times and everything u would have done differently

Really not understanding how the conferences are letting these games continue. These are useless tournaments to begin with, and with the NBA and (likely) NHL going on hiatus, it just looks wrong.

Basically, 3 reasons.

1. $
2. $$$
3. $$$$$

Certainly more than S. Korea had.  They are testing more people EVERY DAY than the total that we have tested in this country since the beginning out the outbreak.

For political reasons we rejected testing kits from wHO and just decided a miracle was gonna occur. Nothing to worry about. In a day or two we will be down to zero cases.

I am a physician.  I have ordered the test a few times in the last week.  All of this is such an over reaction.  In the past 2 weeks I have had patients + flu die with no concerns at all.  This is all over blown by the media and no noone can actually make a informed decision due to "optics".

Disagree. If a player has this virus (and at this point its unreasonable to think none do) its difficult to think of an activity more conducive to spreading it than playing competitive basketball.

Absolutely, just thinking the basketball itself is like a big rolling snowball gathering germs during the game.

Work in the healthcare field. Absolute over reaction. But will be effective in stopping the spread.

You gotta at least put NCAA lack of coordination on this one on your list as well. Tim Brando was going off about this at the end of the broadcast for the STJ/Creighton game.
