But their new mascot is freakin' adorable...

That being said, I can't wait to break his little heart tonight.
Have some patience, FFS.

🏀

Bulldogs are a terrible mascot in general, let alone in the dog category.

Let's make the puppy piddle all over the place.

It looks like a Bull puppy, and that vest looks kinda like a diaper.

Very intimidating

Sadly, it's team will have to be put down

A road game against a former top 5 team currently on a losing streak.   Why on earth shouldn't MU be favored?

6.5 point dogs.    Let's get this one!  Swoop and destroy!  Go Marquette!

Need rebounds, low turnovers.   Keep outer bigs out of foul trouble.  Let's Go!

They're at home coming off 2 L's. We're on the road coming 3 W's. Feels like a loss which would make a win that much sweeter. Let's get it.
No Finish Line

I think the StJ game was good preparation for Butler.

Butler is going to go at Marquette aggressively, and after facing the Red Storm the team should be able to handle it.

The experience they gained at GTown should also bolster their confidence that they can execute the game plan for 40 minutes on the road.

The Xavier win showed what they can do when they put it all together.

The last three games suggest that Marquette is finally gelling as a team. A win @ Butler would really help cement that notion.

MU just played 3 of the weaker conference teams and matched up well with them.  Butler is more physical but playing in a slump.  If MU is to beat them, it would be now to take advantage of Butler's regression.  If not, MU will be a double digit seed in the tourney - if they make it.  This is one of MU's most important games of the season.  Otherwise, with the tougher schedule coming up they'll likely finish below .500 in their remaining games.

Marquette is currently comfortably in the tourney.  A road loss to a former top 5 team will not make them a bubble team.   But it will give you a chance to bray.

Nice double adverb

Marquette will be lucky to go 5-6 in the next 11.  That is what I'm factoring in based on how they've played.

I am going to be interested in which Butler team shows up. The one ranked 8th in the Beast Pre-season and that just lost to DePaul or the one that was very impressive early.  They are at home and need this so I assume the later but it will be interesting to see who the real Butler is.

11-7

If MU goes 11-7 in conference I will put up an avatar of your choice.

tower912

This could be the first year under Wojo that  I didn't accurately predict the number of wins.   All streaks end.  In November 2018, after the IU game, I predicted 24 wins, 12-6 conference record, a 5 seed and a 5-12 upset.
This year, I predicted 22-24 wins.  Nothing I have seen so far has fundamentally altered that, though the Providence game definitely hurt.    And that was without injuries to Jayce, Theo, Koby, Greg or Ed leaving.   But I am still feeling 11-7.

9-9 in conference
Winning on the road much tougher for a team like MU that has to shoot well to win.

Am I in the wrong thread??

I thought this was the pre-game fire-up thread.

Nope, just double checked and I'm definitely in the right thread.

Which means.......You must be lost.

There's an app for that.

MikeDeanesDarkGlasses

Yes, if you were paying attention I was stressing the importance of this game.  It's very much a catalyst game based on the opportunity available to win on the road vs. a team that has been struggling - which has huge implications down the line.  A win here sets MU up for a much better chance with a winning record in conference.
