I think when he transferred he referenced that Markus would end up MU's all time leading scorer.

I looked for this quote a couple weeks ago my lack of computer skills/patience made me give up.

19 of the first 21.
No way was MH gonna break the all time record on a FT.
intentional miss. No doubt.

You apparently didn't see how pissed off he was at himself leaving the court at halftime. He knew and he wanted it on that free throw.

A deserved honor and accomplishment for someone who has always represented Marquette with nothing but class.

Yep. He ran straight from the free throw line into the tunnel. That was not an intentional miss.
Have some patience, FFS.

Congrats to @markushoward11 on scoring 1900 more college points than me. Pretty special thing considering how much I dominated at Marquette. Congrats brother 🙏🏻💪🏼

Howard is definitely the greatest scorer in MU history. Other top scorers could have had a four point line and not match is numbers. Congrats to Howard for becoming all time leader scorer.

Froling is a solid Twitter follow. Wanted to pull the curtain back a bit much when the Hausers left, but generally pretty entertaining.

Yup...he only played 3 seasons with no shot clock and no 3pt baskets and played in fewer games each season as well. Yes, Markus is our all time leading scorer, but in the modern era of college basketball. If, George could have played 4 seasons he would have over 2100 points.

I am big time Brute Force fan, but he never would have matched Howard's numbers, IMO.

Markus is at 19.9 points per game for his career after last night.  George Thompson is at 20.4.

For Markus to hit 20.5, he will have to get to 2,686 points over the next 31 games, which is the minimum remaining assuming he is healthy and they secure a postseason bid.  That would be 22.4 ppg for the remainder of the year, or a year end total of 22.9.

That would mean he would have to exceed his freshman and sophomore year production, but wouldn't have to reach his junior year.

Not that it matters, but had Thompson played a 4th year, it also would have been an additional year at the start as a freshman on a team with 5 double-digit scorers, including a leading scorer in Bob Wolf that also led the team in scoring during Thompson's sophomore year. He would certainly have a bigger scoring total, but as a second or third option his scoring average would likely have been lower and the jump in his overall tally would have been hindered by MU only playing 26 total games that season.

...and no 3pt basket (lowering ppg) and no shot clock (fewer possessions). Markus' scoring record is a great achievement, but so is George's and they IMO are not comparable.

I remember two years ago when MU lost in the BET and was basically eliminated from NCAAT consideration, Rowsey was inconsolable on the bench and Froling came over and put an arm around him.  It was a touching moment.  Froling was a bust for MU, but seems like he’s generally a good dude.

George was a man playing with boys. No doubt different era's, shot clock, number of games and other factors, but I believe Howard is the greatest pure scorer in school history. That said, I still believe today, he is not a top ten all time player in school history.
