First American to ever run a sub 20 second 200 meters and a sub 45 second 400 meters in the same day is a freshman from Rice Lake, WI.

Matthew Boling is the track sensation right now down in Texas.  Dubbed White Lightning in the media the past month. Set 100M record and 400M a few weeks ago.  Challenged Ted Ginn yesterday.

It was wind aided but still.  Why did he go juco?  Is that normal for track guys to break into the top programs?

He ran a 19.82 into a head wind. His collegiate record time was wind aided, but he ran sub 20 into a head wind too.

I don't know what specific D1 offers he had, but reading between the lines, it seems he may have had academic qualification issues.

He won the WI D2 State Championships in the 100, 200 and 400 as a senior (setting a state record 46.68 in the 400 at regionals). And the article below states that in HS he ran the 200 in 20.43 (7th best time ever in HS), and garnered the attention of nearly every major Division I college in the country.
