The Al, the new dorm, Wojo's salary, MU contract with the Bucks to play at Fiserv all paid with Taxes? Don't think so.

That's very different from what you wrote earlier.

Any school supported with taxes has unlimited resources.

Um..... OK.

Sounds like you pulled that from your nether regions.

more and more athletic programs are self-sufficient and not funded by public dollars for operations.

Student fees, though.

"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me." Al McGuire

right...which is why i posed the question.  so add to the discussion or don't.  do you think you're missing something when you quote andrew luck as being okay with his kid playing football...when tons of other players have themselves retired and said they won't let their kids play.

Before Wojo was even a thought---I wanted Mick Cronin or Kevin Willard
and Archie Miller. MU was kind of stuck on Ben Howland and believe
Cuonzo Martin at that time. Correct if I'm wrong.

I think you're wrong. Wojo seemed to be the next man up after the Shaka situation fell apart.
If MU had preferred Howland or Martin, they'd have gotten him.

As for Cronin, I'm not sure a Bob Huggins/Rick Pitino protege would have been embraced at Marquette.

I'm pretty sure you and everyone else would've gone nuts if we got someone who's career accomplishment was second round of the NIT

Woud've loved Archie but my recollection was he wasn't interested, can someone confirm or deny?

After Shaka, those were the three names. Howland's somewhat recently reported conduct likely ruled him out. Pretty sure he put his own name out repeatedly through Goodman. Martin & Wojo were interviewed, and from what I heard Martin was the favorite going in. But he botched the interview & Wojo knocked it out of the park. The phrase I've most often heard was "Cuonzo was running from something, Wojo was running to something."

Did you actually hear that at the time, or have the Scoop platitudes made their way into mainstream consciousness?

MU never looked at Cronin or Willard.

Nor was MU stuck on Howland. A major donor pushed hard for Gentle Ben. Marquette passing on Howland caused the Powerful Penis to end his considerable support for the program.

Martin never had traction at MU.

What's interesting is that one of the names you mention had a dialogue with MU after our humiliating defeat to a mid major.

While exploratory, and it never had traction, there was a conversation between MU and the coach's people lasting more than 10 days.

You're saying MU admin spoke with representatives of Cronin, Willard, Howland, Martin or Miller just a few weeks ago? And those talks last 10 days?

Just verifying. He seemed to state it as fact and not speculation or opinion.

Jon/Keefe appears to be the most insider of insiders because of this information and the information about the Hausers. Though many other prominent posters have disagreed with his statements on the Hausers.

And, in the past, he has been shown to have an anti-wojo/fire wojo stance as well as shown untrustworthy at least once (plagiarism).

So, again, I just wanted to verify his post was fact and not opinion/speculation.

Pretty sure he means post-Bazz, not this offseason.
