Another vote for big Theo. He was impressive at both ends.

Markus got his, but I was unimpressed with some of his decision making.  Mr. Double Double it is.

Double double. 3 blocks. Even an assist. But zero turnovers. Theo.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Theo or Markus. In a game decided by defense I'd probably give the nod to the big fella.

Shoutout to Cain for stepping up again when called upon.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Marcus92

Theo John. 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks. Stud. His defense helped keep MU in the game when the offense wasn't clicking. I just can't give it to Markus with 7 turnovers (despite 28 points, stellar shooting, 6 rebounds and good all-around effort).

Markus definitely deserves credit for playing all 40 minutes. He carries the team offensively most nights and is easily our most indispensable player. Hard for Wojo to take him off the court. A very good overall game, I just think Theo's was better.

Mr. Sand-Knit

Iwill say Markus although his ball handling can be so atrocious.

Theo deserving too but his defensive rebounding in tge first half was equally atrocious.  Im guessing he had 9 of his 11 boards in the second half. We r up a dozen at half if we rebound, not just blaming Theo on that

I'm not sure what the second chance points were, but if you think that we hold Butler to 17 points in a half (which is what it would have taken to have a 12 point lead when you only score 29) you have far more faith in our defense than I do.  Even with our improvements, we're not Virginia.

Not saying we are virginia but i guarantee a dozen first half points were second chance points, mostly off mu bobbles.  Second half rebounding was much better.  The worst rebounding team in the BE was +6 on us at half.

How good is Markus? He scores 28, is our second-leading rebounder and makes some nice defensive plays ... and it's a shoulder shrug on Scoop. Amazing.

Normal, I would default to him, but Theo had several stretches during which he was our best player. Butler had all kinds of trouble taking it inside, and Theo was huge on the boards in the second half.

I think I give a slight edge to Theo. Obviously, I'd be A-OK with Markus, too ... even though I don't really love rewarding a PG with a 3/7 assist/turnover ratio. (And let's face it: There is no bigger reward than Scoop SOTG!)

I don't have synergy (if that would even have this info), but I highly doubt that, considering we only gave up 11 Oboards the entire game, and BU shot 41 percent.

U maybe correct but i only tecall 2-3 off boards by butler in second half, that n our offense created tge difference in going from -8 to plus 10
Butler outrebounded us 20-14 in first
We out rebounded them in 2nd 21-11
Im guessing no more than 2 were offensive in second.  Giving them 9 in first?

Looked at ESPN play-by play (which does have some inaccuracies from time to time), and it seems to support my claim.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/playbyplay?gameId=401083214

BU had three OBoard in a row at 15:12, 14:55, and 14:51.  Those extra possession resulted in a couple of MU fouls but ultimately resulted with a Markus Howard steal.  0 Points.

BU next Oboard didn't come until 11:39, and was followed with a missed layup and Sam Hauser defensive board at 11:33.  0 Points

BU didn't get their first second chance basket until 3:23, following an Oboard at 3:32.

BU did not get another Oboard the rest of the half.  Now as stated above ESPN play-by-play has been known to get things wrong from time to time, but I doubt that they would have missed another 10 second chance points by BU in a half.  Our rebounding wasn't great in the first half, but we did hold BU to only 30 points.  What hurt us, was our own missed shots on the offensive end.

OK, I don't care what the rules are, but my nod for Bulldog SOTG has to go to Sean McDermott.
Averages 9.8ppg and 3.8rpg, and ended up with 27pts, 8reb on 8-13 shooting in only 24min.

This. There have been multiple we are spoiled by Markus threads but this guy has a "bad game" and isn't only the best player on the team but is all American worthy.

Honestly if we all stepped away and looked at the stats and game from an outside look Markus wins it every time. I've got theo tho.

Think about that

Ur absolutely correct.  With that said i have voted Makus prolly 90% this yr n again last nite.  What assuredly doesnt help Markus is the last 3-4 minutes of the game where he was crap show with the ball. I think he loses votes, prolly rightfulky so, when he has his 6-8 TO games
