Theo.  Nice job on defense and a double-double.

Markus too loose with the ball for my tastes and some very ill advised shots when we were struggling.  He was still great, of course.

Definitely Theo.

When Theo plays smart he stays out of foul trouble and when he does that he affects the game even more because he's ON the court changing plays and affecting shots instead of sitting on the bench.

This game should be his personal lesson: Play smart, make the plays when you can but don't go for absolutely everything, don't commit foolish fouls 30 feet from the basket, be wise about what plays you aren't going to make, stay on the court, and as a result have a huge game.

Markus may have scored 28, but he had a sloppy game with poor ball handling. Always fantastic but not one of his best.

Theo for sure.

Eye

John. Too many TOs for Howard. And I don't want to be Virginia on defense, on pace, on anything.

I'm not sure what the second chance points were, but if you think that we hold Butler to 17 points in a half (which is what it would have taken to have a 12 point lead when you only score 29) you have far more faith in our defense than I do.  Even with our improvements, we're not Virginia.

I don't agree with him that we are up a dozen. But if we did rebound better, we probably score more than 29. So they wouldn't have to be at 17.

I'm going with Theo.  Great game big fella.

That said, Jamal was fantastic and helped change the course of the second half.  I had an opportunity to tell him that personally after the game and he was genuinely appreciative and excited.

Iwill say Markus although his ball handling can be so atrocious.

Theo deserving too but his defensive rebounding in tge first half was equally atrocious.  Im guessing he had 9 of his 11 boards in the second half. We r up a dozen at half if we rebound, not just blaming Theo on that

You are almost dead-on, Theo only managed 3 rebounds in the first half, 2 on the defensive end. Big adjustment at halftime.

Fair point, with the extra 3-4 possessions we are probably in the mid 30s, but the fact that MSK hasn't responded when I broke down the play-by-play suggests that this isn't a hill that he wants to die on, and that's fine.  We all can, and should move on.

Theo for sure.  He dominated underneath.

Class71

Theo in this game is SOTG.

Markus will be the highest scorer of all time at MU if he plays 4 years. To be POY he needs to make better decisions and handle the ball better in a crowd. If he improves on that over the summer the sky is the limit next year.

1. Theo. Double - Double & numerous blocks / defensive rim help.

1a. Markus - 7 TOs bring him to slightly sub status to TJ.

Honorable Mention - Cain, who played his a** off.

1. Theo, perhaps the best all around game of his career. He kept them in it.
2. Jamal, big time players make big time plays
3. Sam, because that the first time I remember him dunking

Howard may be the all-time scoring leader by the end of this season. Last time figured it out figuring 3 in BET and 3 in NC2A's was on pace to be about 50 ahead of McNeal at end of season.

Late Vote:
Tie: Theo and Markus

Was going to say Theo only but I realize I'm taking Markus for granted...expecting him to be at a certain level and not giving him creds for being there.

So Theo was good with more UPS and some DOWNS...but so was Markus.

I went back n checked. Butler 6 of 11 off boards were in 1st. Seemed like more. I believe 6 or 7 points so not completely accurate.  Theo 8 of 11 boards in second half and a number of Butlers off boards were at the end when we inexplicable chose to take the last 3 minutes off

Nice to see you admit that you were wrong, it's a good quality to have, that not everyone does.  I absolutely agree that your overall point about our rebounding was better in the second half, and I think a lot of that is because we gave BU less opportunities for Dboards.  I believe that we were 2-10 from 3 at half, so we were 7-11 in the second half.  Shoot better, gives your opponent less opportunities for boards, simple formula.  We also had without a doubt the biggest rebound of the game.  2 minutes left, up 12, Sam Oboard kick to Markus for 3.  Absolute dagger.

Theo had the points and rebounds double double.

Markus nearly had the points and turnovers double double.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

If you had told me 26 games in that Sam Hauser and Theo John would have the same number of SOTGs I would have laughed in your face. His emergence has been one of my favorite things about this team and I think the difference maker between the top 25 many thought we would be and the top 10-11 team that we actually are. Have  a day Mr. John
