Speaking of banning, has anyone been banned from RC?

I was banned in 1999 (approx 2:15 am on 3/18).  I took it to mean a lifetime ban, but I snuck in a few years later and they served me.

Surely they don't actually keep records of people who have been "banned" You can't just say that and not tell the whole story though.

I don't know how many of you can say this.  I absolutely had Chili (many times actually) before I had my first beer.

There have been many days when I've had Real Chili before my first beer.

If you're talking in a lifetime, then no.

So did Glow jr and Chick jr (as far as I know).
Have some patience, FFS.

I mistakenly thought it was a good idea to go get Real Chili on my break during a weekend LIMO shift with one of my supervisors/friends.

I knew I had done my job as a parent when we were moving Chick jr. into her freshman dorm, and when it got close to noon, she asked, "Can we eat lunch at Real Chili?"

Blondie?

not blondie.  lame story actually.  was piss drunk.  like drinking since 6 am on 3 hours rest from the night before and it's past 1 am drunk. finished my bowl (hot) and pushed it away from me.  damn thing slide across the counter on a skim of grease and fell to the floor, breaking.  throwing crackers while getting yelled at:  not a good idea.  got the door locked on me, and was told I wasn't ever allowed to come back.

despite Chitown's objection, they did write my name in a book:  fat, drunk guy with a surly disposition:  banned.

That is what they told you, anyway.

Guys, while I don't think Skyline is the best chili I ever had, it's not bad. It's regional food at its best since despite Skyline's owners efforts at franchising, it never worked outside Cincinnati.

I had a boss who worked with me in Milwaukee who was from Cincinnati and brought home a special Cincinnati "Chili Seasoning" packet. Gave me a couple of them. I tried it and while I liked the boss, I never understood the big deal about Cincinnati Chili.

Real Chili, on the other hand, is about the same quality and taste of a product called Alpo. Like Real Chili, Alpo was made of beef and beef by-products. Lots of the latter as best I can tell. Real Chili was awful and edible only if you staggered out of the Gym so drunk that your taste buds were numb.

For you young Scoopers, Alpo was dog food!

Sorry gang, don't mean to break a legend, but Real Chili was not very good. Certainly not on par with anything in the south or southwest. Varallios in Nashville was much better.

I totally allow for the fact that Real Chili might be great sober food. Maybe I'll be more open-minded and give it a try next time in town!

I will say that Mrs. 82 makes sensational chili -- has won contests with it -- so it will be a tough test for RC.

I have to ask, what is the secret to contest winning chili? Bacon? Beer? Brisket? No beans?

Chili, don't encourage her.  A doc that can cook is an unfair advantage.   ;)

Took a trip to Chili in the mid 90's?  Had a crew of roommates and our wives.  Blondie was gone.

Kids stood up to throw crackers at each other, no stealth, no craft at all.

Very disappointing.

I took my son and several of my former roommates there on Sunday before boarding the plane.  Definitely a different experience in the middle of the day vs late at night, but it hit the spot.
