Listening to Wojo's press conference, it sounds like he wants more consistency from Joey, on and off the court.

I was gonna start a thread on this, but figured it would turn into an argument.

They are pretty close as I see it.

Joey is the better shooter and has a little better court awareness. Henry was a better rebounder and a slightly better defender. Both are solid ball handlers and passers.

We can't use numbers when comparing these two cuz Henry played on a crap team and was always the #1 option. Joey is the 3rd option on this team.

Henry would also be the 3rd option on this team.

Joey has been a much better shooter than Ellenson was as a freshman. Ellenson has him beat just about everywhere else.

Biggest difference between the two is that Ellenson was head and shoulders the best guy on a bad team whereas Joey is the 3rd best guy on a very good team.

Court awareness and basketball sense he has him beat too. That doesn't mean Ellenson was bad in that department. The Hausers are just in a league of their own in that category

Agreed, it was a challenge to Joey to reach his extremely high upside potential.  I got the impression that perhaps Joey perhaps isn't as focused or serious as Sam or Markus perhaps.

Joey making the open shots is great and he has gotten some looks because of Sam and Howard being in the court. It is everything else he does that impresses me. Hitting 25 footers is great, but his intangibles are very advanced for a kid his age. Bo was the smartest, and probably best, freshmen ever to play at MU and Joey might be on same level of ball IQ as Bo.

And he passes well too.

Biggest surprise to me this year is the guys not making an impact. My moderate optimism going into the season was based off who I was afraid was going to get big minutes. Honestly, Theo has completely shocked me and Wojo not playing guys I expected him to play has shocked me. I give Wojo a ton of credit of playing the right guys.
Back to Joey, I figured he would be a starter and contributor. I did not know exactly how polished and advanced of a player he really is. This kid is the real deal and in a big way.

I expected a leap from Cain. He has athleticism that no one else really does. I also thought Ed and Joe would make bigger impacts. Wojo has definitely juggled the roster well. Incredible to think we should have roughly the same team next year.

We'll see. I remember hearing the same about Ed and numerous others before (Dan Fitzgerald). I'm more excited for the known quantities.

Perhaps. I'm a big Joey fan. Brings a ton to the table. Does seem to disappear occasionally, commit the odd dumb foul and throw a silly or lazy pass or two per game. Not too often, because he is a superb player with the potential to be even better, but enough to remind us, "Well, I am a kid, after all."

Excited about his future -- both for the rest of this season, and beyond.

That's fair. I'd definitely give Joey a significant edge in basketball IQ

Going through the learning process just like the other guys had to. He's going to be a great player the next couple years.

Joey was huge tonight... especially in the first half with three made threes.  He’s better at this point than I expected.  Most freshman hit a slump part way through a long season and he seems to be getting better as the season goes on
