Quote from: MuggsyB on July 22, 2025, 07:43:00 PMThe Coasters are my favorite old school group.  I guess they were enshrined in the rock and roll HOF, but I still think they're vastly underrated and have been disrespected.  Tremendous swag and badasses musicically and vocally.  May they RIP.

Muggs, this can't be true?

Coldplay in Madison was incredible, what a show, blew out my expectations. Wrapped up the Nashville show a bit ago, and have to say there was more energy at Tootsies at closing time than the show. Kind of a let down, honestly. But, still great, and Nashville is a fun city to spend a couple days. Sitting on the balcony listening to the birds start to chirp, solid effort today.

I'm a big fan of the afternoon on Broadway situation, which I think we've discussed on Scoop before. Tonight reinforced that, the cover bands all sounded the same and were mediocre at best. I loathe 90s music for the most part, country or otherwise, my wife loves it. Let's just say tonight was her night. I cannot listen to another Goo Goo Dolls song, woof.

Flying to MKE later today, Lord Huron tonight, super stoked.

Chuck Mangione died today. The flugelhornist was best known for "Feels so Good," one of the most 70s sounding songs ever.

"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

For all in the Wisconsin and Minnesota regions, to include fellow EVers, The Queen Amy and her band Evanescence are coming. They are the headliners, with I believe two other acts opening.

Back in May, I flew to LA and saw them at the Hollywood Bowl.  They were the mid act, with The Warning as openers, then EV and closing was Halsey.  EV did a 13 song set and were outstanding.  I felt bad for Halsey because EV blew her off the stage and probably 75% of the audience were EVers.

Amy came on stage with Halsey during her act and sung their recent hit Hands That Feed, from the Ballerina movie. FYI, Amy wrote two songs for the movie, Hands That Feed with Halsey and Fight Like a Girl, which was the movie's closing credits song.  Check them out on Youtube.

Hope some will attend, EV headed off to Australia next few months to open for Metallica and their tour.

Besides the two songs for the Ballerina movie, Amy wrote a song "Afterlife" for the Netflix series, "Devil May Cry".  It was recently the number one song on Billboards Rock Chart.

Tremendous song.  You know something is going to happen when Amy pulls up the high ponytail in beginning.

Angelic haunting verses, catchy hook chorus and when the bridge starts (2:08 in video, Amy known for her bridge vocals) they add a small background choir sound leading to the final out chorus and a ridiculous breakdown outro.  Outstanding.

Remember, to fully enjoy the music, use those headphones/Airpods.

at the advice of a coworker, I checked out American Aquarium, and they were phenomenal! One of the best concerts I've ever been to. I kept wondering why they're playing a 300 person club and not at least small arenas, they're that good. After the show I was talking to a dude who mentioned Stephen Wilson, Jr. as someone to check out. The dude looks like Dahmer but man, his debut album is incredible. I'll be seeing him in a few months. If you're into Americana/roots rock, check these two acts out.

Wilson is simply a stunning musician.

I'll checkout American Aquarium.

my wife buried her dad's ashes last week and has been in tears listening to Wilson's "Son of Dad" album today. He's an absolutely amazing musician and lyricist.

She's been listening more closely to lyrics after reading this from John McWhorter and said she finally understands my love of Springsteen (it makes me think of "you can listen to Jimi but you can't hear him" from WMCJ). It was listening closely to Wilson's lyrics this morning that really hit her. A little deeper stuff than the hip hop and Taylor Swift stuff she normally listens to.
