Quote from: wadesworld on February 20, 2026, 01:49:32 PMHas anybody ever had tickets actually be non-transferrable?  Since the timing for Noah Kahan tickets going on sale was based on the local time of the venue, plus you could get access to three shows, I went with Boston because it would be sweet to see him in Fenway, St. Louis because that's by far the closest for me (and the one I would prioritize as a result), and Denver because my brother lives there, it's an easy flight, and it'd be a fun trip.  Since Boston went on sale first, I figured I would buy them if I was able to, and then if I also got tickets to St. Louis I would sell the Boston tickets.

I know scalpers suck and I'm part of the problem, but I would've never gone for the Boston tickets if I was guaranteed to get tickets in St. Louis.  Since Boston was on sale first and I ended up with tickets to both, I figured why wouldn't I get the money I could for the Boston tickets?

So anyway, I went to list the Boston tickets on secondary sites and I believe it was Stubhub that had a notice pop up that said I would need to meet the buyer in person at Fenway to let them in since they are non-transferrable tickets.  Ticketmaster says I'll get the digital tickets on my phone two days prior to each show.  Vividseats let me post the tickets for sale.

Ticketmaster is allowing people to resell their purchases for face value, so I am all good with that, but again I figured why not make some money since I was able to get both?  Just curious if I should give up on that and just list them on Ticketmaster.

OR if a Scooper wants them for face value, I'll be selling 2 for the 7/11 show at Fenway.

For a Springsteen show I went to in 2016 anyone with lower level tickets had to present the credit card they used to buy the tickets when entering the arena.

My nephew may be moving to Boston this summer (GF got into Tufts for grad school waiting to hear from Duke) so I might have a buyer for you.

Metallica is doing eight weekend shows at the Sphere in October. I'm not much of a Metallica fan and don't care about ever going back to Vegas, but them at the Sphere, damn, I might need to check it out.

Metallica's bassist, (whom I've really enjoyed since Suicidal Tendencies), is Mexican and Native American.

Sturgill Simpson's project.  It is fantastic.

I had Stephen Wilson, Jr. tickets for last Saturday, and my mom passed away on Friday. Any other artist, I would have skipped the show (my sister did), but considering what much of SWJ's music is about, my wife and I decided to go. There were tears shed that night when he played "Grief is Only Love."

He is one of the greatest acoustic players of this era.

Quote from: StillAWarrior on February 12, 2026, 07:42:12 AMJust got tickets to see Paul Simon in June. I saw him in Milwaukee in 1991, so I figured this will be a nice bookend for me (although that would be mid- and late-career for him). I think that if I had to choose, I'd say that Simon is my all-time favorite performer. I'd probably put two of "his" albums -- Graceland and the S&G Concert in Central Park into my top five. His most recent offering - Seven Psalms - was pretty heavy, reflective stuff, but not too surprising for someone his age contemplating where he's been and what might come next. But still shows his creativity and stellar acoustic guitar. My understanding is that he's playing that album in its entirety (just a bit over 30 minutes) and then plays more of what people know him for.

It'll be very different than the last time I saw him play, but I'm really looking forward to it.
Simon and Garfunkel played in the Old Gym my freshman year. They just sat on the edge of the stage and sang. It was a memorable concert. That same year The Beatles were to play in Chicago and one of my buddies , a member of the Frain family, called about getting us all backstage. I passed because that summer I went to a Beach Boys concert at McCormick place and you couldn't hear squat because of all the screaming girls. My friends who went and were backstage said you couldn't hear the Beatles at all because of the screaming.

Well, after a great night seeing a great band The Happy Fits, I finally took in the AVVT/PTTN show in Charleston. It was...interesting, or as my wife put it, bizarre.

They came out swingin' with a couple dark, moody, heavy collaborative songs, and I thought alright this is gonna be good. Then the wheels fell off. Mike Patton is a mess, and he makes everything else a mess. His voice is brutal, bad karaoke, switches from old/bad Ted Neely as Jesus Christ Superstar 40 years past his "prime" to strange terrible 90s country twang guy to breathy Billie Eilish (who I love, btw). He stands off to the side playing all these electronic noise makers, strange reverb wa wa type stuff, it's weird. He is a train wreck.

The arena holds 13K, top bowl closed off, main bowl half filled maybe, floor half filled maybe. Way too big of an arena for an experimental side project like this. AVVT played some of their stuff, and if PTTN had sat it out, it would have been great. He just muddies all of their songs in a terrible way. The vibe was one of wtaf by nearly everyone in attendance. I actually think the collab album could be okay, if AVVT does it on their own.

Line of the night after MP sang some brutally composed broadway/breathy/karaoke/Elvis song he said, "thanks for giving this experiment a chance as we leap off the cliff together holding hands." Might have been more exhilarating. Woof.

OK Guys !!!  I dont know if this is the right place, but here it goes.  I am looking for some input for music STREAMING... Until now, I have been satisfied with using SIRIUS XM PLATINUM in the car and using what has been downloaded on my iPhone. But Im thinking of getting the Apple pkg incl Apple Music.  My son and nephews, all talented musicians with wide range of music genres they listen to.  They are all in on SPOTIFY, and do some of that "sharing" of lists. A friend of ours was totally surprised and pissed off when she found an "artist" on Spotify, only to find out when she wanted to "buy" some of his music, he was AI generated artist.  So now she is going to TIDAL. So again, Im looking for some input. THNX!!!

Your post is... kinda all over the place... but, my initial thought is threaten to leave Sirius, have them give you an enormous discount and stay for cheap.

Im sorry if you think Im "all over the place".  I guess I thought I was pretty straightforward!!! First, I use Sirius Radio Stations for our cars, and getting the Platinum Pkg for $5/month... 2nd,I was looking for maybe something to search for different music from different Genres...   :-\  I guess Im not that sharp when it comes to listening to "new" music nowadays... It used to be so easy...

Spotify is how I've found some new artists I'm listening to, as their suggestions are based on my listening history.

Also, some I've discovered through following small local venues. For example, a group called "The Droptines" was playing at a small venue last week, and when I got the email and read the description of them I checked them out on Spotify. Good stuff!

Good suggestion. I've also done that to find bands on Spotify.

Moreover, I love going to small venues to see relative newcomers. Great vibe, less expensive, better experience than arena/stadium shows. And it's cool to feel like you've "discovered" something new.

Among those I saw in small venues before they became big: Warren Zevon, Wilco, Ben Folds, Fountains of Wayne, Old 97s.

Saw REM and Bon Jovi on side stages at Summerfest before they hit it big.

Keep Sirius.  If you hear a new song you like, use Pandora to find similar songs/artists and Apple Music to further explore that particular artist as well as similar artists/songs.  Both do a good job in my experience. I don't use Spotify so not sure, but they probably offer similar features.

My wife went to a "new bands showcase" held by an independent radio station in 2023 and discovered "Inhaler," which is Bono's son's band (they don't play that connection up and his parents stay uninvolved). We saw them headline last summer at a smaller venue, and the opener was "The Bends," which is a group of college buddies from LSU. They were really good and are coming back as a headliner for that venue in November.

Granted, you're also likely to see some duds, but it's fun to say "I saw that group with 30 other people in the crowd" when they hit.
