I couldn't agree more.  Haugh is extremely boring to listen to and comes off as too authoritative on every subject, kind of like Bernsie, without any humor.

I'd much prefer Rozner if they're going in a different direction.

Parkins and McNeil might be the 5 worst hours of radio going.  Parkins has the personality of a turnip and mac sounds drunk.

Wish Lawrence got a bigger platform but maybe it's good hes staying on the down low in evenings.

I never really got into Berstein and Goff much, but the few times I did I thought they were too much alike and found myself tiring of them. So I can see why they made that change, but bringing back Mac meant it was a no-go for me.

They are terrible.  Parkins is kind of that nerdy know it all guy who is a decent supporting voice, but man he's not great, especially running the show.  Oh and how have I felt about Mac coming back?

He's the token Chicago chucklehead who loves talking about stuff he has no clue about and wears his ignorance about a lot of things like a badge of honor.  They talked earlier in the Spring about him actually watching full games of a few Chicago teams like it was a great change in behavior.  THATS YOUR JOB.

I really like Goff.  Maybe its the millenial in me, but I thought he was a refreshing perspective.  The select times he and Lawrence had a show together, it was hilarious.  He and Bernstein had their moments (they had me in tears talking about Jason Kelce's SB Parade speech), but I can see why it didn't work, the Bernstein fan types didn't like Goff and vice versa.

Either way, the Score is kind of a mess right now.  And it sucks cause I can't really get ESPN1000 in Milwaukee when I drive, so since moving from Chicago in Feb, its been 670 or nothing.

You're not missing much. I enjoy Waddle, but Silvy is a stiff, Jurko is a windbag, Kap is a caricature and the next interesting or insightful thing that Carmen says will be the first.

As for The Score, Laurence Holmes is underappreciated. He's actually thoughtful and funny and doesn't have a schtick that he relies on. I have to think that he prefers his evening time slot. Otherwise, it's a waste to not have him on mornings or mid-days. I didn't mind Goff but it always felt like he was trying too hard. Bernstein is entertaining and highly intelligent (just ask him) but him berating callers - and basically anyone who disagrees with him - is grating.

Overall, I actually think that a lot of the top radio talent is on avenues other than the actual radio.

When my son became sick, I had a mutual friend with Abbatacola, and we became friendly (I hesitate to say friends because I only saw him a couple of times). Anyway, Matt’s personal life went down hill quick with his affair, and he left the station thereafter. He would text every now and then previously, but I haven’t texted or heard from him since probably right after the Boers farewell show.

In spite of Bernstein’s attitude, I always thought the old Boers/Bernstein produced by Goff/Abbatacola was great radio.

Mind-boggling true story:  I managed an indoor golf facility on the North Shore for a couple winters. So one day, I'm there wearing an MU golf polo, and Kappy, who was a regular customer, gives me a "Go Warriors." I had met him initially on a golf course, and had even racked up a hundred dollar charge on an early 1990s-era student phone bill by catching up on MU hoops recruiting by dialing his 1-900-USA-DUNK "the best basketball hotline EVER". There was no internet, precious little print coverage of MU hoops recruiting, and Kap gave an accurate prognosis of whom his buddy Keven O'Neill was targeting and the likelihood of landing each prospect. So...please know that I always had a modicum of respect for him. HOWEVER, as Kap and I proceeded to discuss MU hoops on this cold day in February of 2002, I asked him what he thought of one Mr Dwyane Wade. I kid you not....his response was...

"Wade is ok, but Odartey Blankson is a surefire NBA lock."

 I think DK is a decent guy, so I never phoned in the show to embarrass him. He probably wouldn't own up to it, but he said it, as God is my witness.

I always thought Hanley was well prepared and insightful enough, but he said "you know" at an alarming rate which really detracted from his presentation.



I really liked Goff when he was by himself. Smart, interesting guy. Boers was a pretty good writer - OK on radio until he teamed with Bernstein. Dan B, as noted by many, is a really smart guy, though probably not quite as smart as he thinks he is. And unless it's an act, he's a total, unadulterated dick. His "screeners" would put through the uninformed and defenseless and Bernstein would mercilessly tear them apart. He came across as a rotten human being. Infects everyone/everything he comes in contact with.

Agreed. Sure he’s pompous, but any intelligent Chicago knows how many meatball fans there are. Taking about “bear weather” and getting off the bus running. Not to mention other sports. To hear them lambasted was hilarious in doses. Bitter Dan isn’t great but he has so many good moments. And honestly, I find him not entertaining than a Francesca who is pompous and a know it all, but also clueless (obviously not putting them in the same class)

Goff is great to me cause he reminds me a lot of my friends
