The only time I get to see Marquette play in person is usually once a year at Seton Hall, St.John's or Nova. Usually it is my family of 4 including me and betwenn tickets, the train and concessions it can run betwenn 5-600 dollars. I know some if not most are STH for Marquette games. Some like 82 will travel from Washington State to see his buddies which I can imagine costs some coin. We each get to spend our money on Marquette basketball the way we want, but I do find it amusing why some complain when they cannot get a discount for games on a streaming sevice, yet will go all out to see games in person.

I don't find it amusing. I think it sucks that games are on so many DIFFERENT formats, requiring you to have multiple subscriptions. It's frustrating.

Sometimes it's no so much about the actual dollar amounts, but more about the principle of it.

Guys,

This one worked for me this morning. Got $10 off for the next 6 months:

Yesterday (I think) there was an email from YouTube TV re: Televisia .. I didn't even read it.. I think some rando channel got removed.

In that email, there is a link to CANCEL.  I clicked that, and it brought me to the 'Manage' page and a $10 off for 6 months offer appeared. I clicked on that, and boom.. $60 saved.

If you're at the I4 / MU game, please repay me by buying me a beer.

Looks like there are 4 games on ESPN+.  How much does it cost to add that to Youtube?  I was considering switching from Hulu after the recent price increase, but will probably stay and get back on Peacock.

Is all of this nonsense generating more revenue for the schools - it is highly annoying as others have said.

Quote from: MU82 on September 30, 2025, 07:09:21 PMYouTube TV subscribers: Acting on a tip from a friend, I just got $10/month off for the next 6 months.

It's kinda similar to last time, but I didn't have to threaten to cancel today. I just logged into my account, went to Settings, found Base Plan (under Membership tab) and clicked on Select. It then simply asked me if I wanted the next 6 months at $72.99 each, which of course I did.

I used a laptop vs smartphone to log on; I have no idea if that matters or not but I remembered that it did last time.

My friend said he heard that sometimes the offer is even a little better, though I have no proof of that. I was perfectly happy to save the $60. Anyhoo, good luck to all who try it.

I did the same for HBO. I cancelled and within 30 days I got an offer for $6.99 a month.

I usually only keep hbo for about half the year so when I cancel after the 6 months is up, I'll see if I get another offer.

Not sure if this was mentioned already, Sling offers day and week passes.

I've been using the week pass to watch the Brewers NLDS games.

It has been annoying trying to watch the MLB playoffs. The series move around between channels, one day HBO Max, one day TruTV, then TBS, then FS1. At least on Sling, some of these channels are split between packages which makes it even more annoying.

Even with 4 series, there are enough channels they could designate one channel to carry an entire series instead of moving them between channels.

Better...no...not necessarily a better value.  But if you've got an Amex platinum, walmart+ monthly is reimbursed, and peacock is a free option with that.  Then the "digital entertainment credit" covers the Disney/Hulu/Espn+ cost.  Just add YTTV, and I'm covered.

edit:  I suppose I should just do espn+ and yttv to maximize the $25/mo digital entertainment credit.

Thanks for the tip because I need to check what cards my monthly subscriptions are getting charged to and it can possibly reduce my monthly payments.

It was a complete shock after I switched from DirecTV to Spectrum last year but my Spectrum includes AMC+, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited, Paramount+, Peacock, FOX One and ViX Premium

I'll be there.  Best I can do is a shot of malort.

In my experience, there is quite a lot of overlap between Malort drinkers and Cubs' fans. Which says a lot frankly.

Imagine the amount of unneeded ambulances that a power hungry RA could call if they had Malort in the dorms.

Jay Bee

I haven't had malort since... a few months ago :/

I believe that overlap is called Chicago.

ESPN and YouTube TV brawling over fees. They have till midnight 10/30 to agree on a deal, or ESPN will go dark for YTTV customers.

YTTV couldn't come to terms with Disney, so customers can't watch ESPN or ABC. Just checked my channel guide, and they're not even listed. Fun!

$20 credit though! Think the impact of the Disney suite of channels is a little more impactful than that personally.

Fubo has a free 7 day trial going. They told me that I apparently signed up for one of those many years ago that I don't remember, so they are only offering a 24 hour free trial. I have never had Fubo. This can get people through some of the weekend sports events.

I hadn't checked competitors in a long time. I was surprised to see the cable stream price of something similar as $110/month. Wow. That's $30 more than YTTV per month. You do get a little more for that but that is the most comparable tier.

I remember that one brief period in time 7 years ago when YTTV was $35/mo and it included sports regionals, TC, MLB Network etc, California phone and online customer service. That was very short lived. Price is now $83/mo without any of those things.

If anyone knows of some free trials or alternatives, I am on the hunt, especially to get through this weekend's games.

The next couple Saturdays I am pretty busy so no real need for ESPN and their college football coverage. If not resolved by the Packers / Eagles MNF game, I will need to figure something out.

Only if YTTV goes without ESPN for "an extended period," whatever that means. They never defined it.
