Not normally an off-season scooper...but this thread interesting.
Since the new BE, have been concerned the conference not have down years and lose the top conference reputation. Can the 10 teams stay consistently good. Does the BE retain an NBA presence? can teams reload?.

I know the NBA thing is a bit unfair...the BE, by nature is not a one-n-done conference.

MU will be good and I know Nova has the coach...but when I see those names above, the BE is losing a lot of talent...hope we can hold our own as a conference next year. How many top 50 teams will we have by March of 2019?

As things currently stand, I see 7 top 50 teams in the Big East next season. Unfortunately, 5 of those are closer to 50 than to 1 and 3 or 4 of them might end up between 40-50

Not sure how reliable they are. Looks like a blog that covers all Philly sports.

Luckily Wojo has us in position to take full advantage of the slight downturn in competition in a crazy competitive league. If Spellman & DD indeed hire agents and Nova takes a modest dip, we could be in position to put a stranglehold on the league for a nice multi-year run starting as early as this year possibly.

Rich get richer. Early candidate to take Macura's place as most hated Big East opponent.

Interested to see if Wright can turn a poor defender into a good one with a short turnaround. Also wonder if it means DD out

Scary thought, if DD and OS come back, that would probably mean that Cremo would come off the bench for Villanova. One of the the top 2 grad transfers on the market this year would be a bench player for them. Wright has built a scary good program.

Reminded me of many of Creans teams,  agree with others, it boils down to the coach.  Willard is average as is Crean.  Good coaches would have done much more

Hard to say on Willard. You do feel like bigger things should have happened to Seton Hall. That said, SH has not done anything for 15 years before Willard.

you probably know more than me...but that feels a bit too optimistic. Hope you're right. I'm fine with MU though...on the rise. Pieces in place.

Big East is losing talent, but all the teams are also bringing in good talent both freshman and transfers. For the most part the league has very good coaches and I expect they will have their teams ready to respond to the challenge. We may see MU and Georgetown among the league leaders which hasn't been the case since inception of this version of the league.

Think that pretty much solidifies a top 3 finish in the Big East for us (on paper)

Saint John's losing another player to transfer. Boubacar Diakite, he pulled a Joey Hauser and enrolled at Saint John's early and redshirtted. Was a three star recruit coming out of high school.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think there's something smelly in MullinLand. They've had a few odd and surprising transfers and decommits since he took over. Assuming Diakite is made to sit a year, this will be the second year in a row that a freshman has opted to transfer and sit out a year before starting their career at St. John's. Sid Wilson was the recruit last season.

I agree. St John's Twitter went crazy when I suggested something was wrong, but they are essentially rebooting every year. I don't know how long losing half your roster can be sustainable.

And it's not like they're making real progress and dumping kids that can't play.  Sure, Ponds is outstanding but.....

In contrast, didn't old Patrick seem to overperform last year? I thought he was going to be terrible and now I think I was wrong.

Meh, Georgetown finished 94th in KenPom which I think it about where most services though they would end up. Their record looked pretty because they beat 7 sub 300 teams. Beating Seton Hall at home and winning at Butler were nice wins but the rest of their season was real ugly. Should be better this season doe.
