While I obviously would prefer to make the big tournament, it wouldn't be awful getting the young guys some post season experience in the NIT.  Hopefully with a high seed, they could make a deep run.

Ranting? This is big business. We are a highly funded program. I dont know why people are accepting mediocre. Accept the facts, we are underwhelming and Wojo hasnt gotten the job done in the last 4 years. Nothing but excuses, but he doesnt make excuses. In any other profession he would be gone. This isnt a rant, its realistically looking at goals that have not been met.

Don't be a p*ssy. Wojo needs a fire lit under his ass. Diamonds are made from pressure.
looks like we need to change the thread title to "whose head explodes if we talk about whose head will explode if we lose to Depaul tonight?"

MUBigDance

I've said it before....MU hoops is a roller-coaster this year so losing to Depaul is possible. If they do, just close your eyes and scream!

BUT, we will win! I predict ahead of us another climb before our final descent for the year.

For a short post, I'm impressed with how many dopey points you try to make. Well done!

My one overriding question for you: How are you personally going to show that you are not "accepting mediocre"? What is BobWild's personal "or else"?

First of all, I appreciate your concern...second(and most of all), I am NOT a boy, in fact I'd venture to guess older than a vast majority here or at least in the same age range. Third, I have other things, but I PURPOSELY eliminated the things that cause drama, or stress..It's a great feeling knowing you can have a clear mind, not have the everyday worries most do, and pour your heart and soul into sports, especially MU basketball. :) That's living right.
Tying any piece of your emotional well being to a sport which A) you have no control over whatsoever and B) has no tangible impact on you or your loved ones doesn't meet my definition of living right. At all.

For the record, Bob Wild loves Wojo.  And I am sure he will love Wojo on Thursday morning no matter what happens tonight.
Have some patience, FFS.

I don't understand all this inconsistency talk.  Our defense has been pretty consistently bad all year, and our O has only failed to hit 70 in 3 games, Wichita State, Georgia, and @Depaul. Now I wouldn't bet the farm on a W tonight because of our record in the BET over the last decade, but I feel fairly comfortable about the team getting it done tonight.  For as young as we are, and our "live by the 3, die by the 3" mentality, we've been far more consistent that I anticipated coming into the year.

I think 70 is too low of a bar for us, though. We've given up 78 points per game this year with an average 81.4 in conference. Our offensive bar is more like 80. We've only won 3 games this year while scoring fewer than 80 points. We have yet to win a game scoring under 70.

If true, chickadee, he has a unique way of showing it.

You love glow. Have you ever accused him of being an "underwhelming" failure?

In any other marriage, he'd be gone!

How many P6 teams are smaller, weaker, less athletic, and less experienced than us.  Your statement is true, but could be said about every other team in the conference as well.

Road being the biggest issue and i disagree how many other 6'7" point guards did Rowsey guard this year.  Cain really killed us, their overall size hurt us prolly more in that game than most others.  Xavier n butlers size caused issues but have to think theresultant rebounding issues in the Depaul game were the worst of the season.
Now similar to the Creighton game, if we shoot the lights out size, experience etc go out the window.
Old experienced chanpionship winning teams can win even when they dont shoot well, we are not there.

It's MU in the conference tournament.  I never expect them to actually show up.

My head won't explode, though I do expect a (laborious) win against DePaul, before getting destroyed by Nova.

This. Waiting for the year where we actually exceed expectations in NY

My head never explodes.   Cried all the time when my team lost when I was a kid.    Grew up.

This.

I watch every game I can, often rearranging my life to make sure I can. I travel to as many NCAA Tournament games as possible. I love and celebrate when we win. I wear my blue and gold with pride. When we lose, I used to cry. Now I remember it's just a game, and my life moves on. I'm sad to be sure, but I don't rant or cry like I used to when I was a kid.

Oh, and by the way...we got this.

Where our bar should be is open for debate, my point was that given the style of play that we implement, we've been far more consistent than I though we'd be.

I agree with your original point, however it is a very general one that proves true for most teams we play.  We are a small young team, I don't think anyone would dispute that.

I am voicing my opinion to people who accept the mediocre. Wojo has been underwhelming and deserves the criticism.

Bob Wild hates Wojo, haven't seen him at a game recently. He's pissed.

Wojo smokes dope MU82. Face it. The guy is stoned. Not staying in the zone, inconsistent level of play, losing players. He's forgetful. Your wise guy loose tie attitude isnt accepted around here.

I also saw your post saying he'd be gone in any other marriage. I hope so, I like my spouse to be reliable and consistent. You on the other hand must let yours suck....

Yep and getting back to the original point.  Thats why my head wouldnt explode and that the only real game that really pissed me off this year was Providence.  I was really disappointed in the coaches n players that day, Georgia game maybe too.  Bith games i thought we were mentally soft.

Given how reliant we are on the 3 and that we don't score a ton of points in the paint, I would agree with you that we're more consistent on offense than I would expect for our style of play. In general, you would expect to have more off shooting nights than we've had this year.

Some quick math I just did shows a std. dev of 9.4 for us in points scored per game and a std. dev of 12.2 in points allowed so far this year. Those figures both drop in conference play to 8.7 and 12, respectively. At some point after the season's over, it would be interesting to look into a little more into our scoring and FG% fluctuations compared to our conference and other Div 1 teams. Someone more adept with statistics could probably do this math and interpret this better than me, but I'm curious to see what is typical for scoring/defense consistency and how we compare.

Sounds too complicated for me.  I just know that we give up a lot of points, and score a lot of points.  Hopefully we can score more than we give up for the next two+ days.

I'm very curious to see if Harry plays and if so what type of impact he has. I still believe he might have been the difference in our loss vs DePaul

Actually, Wojo has met season expectations every year including this year. He hasn't exceeded them but he has met them. I don't know of anyone who would be fired for meeting their annual expectations every year....I think its actually funny that a college basketball coach is being held up as the pinnacle of job stability.

If we lose to DePaul for the second time in 2 1/2 weeks with this loss eliminating us from any hopes of a tourney bid, Wojo's seat will be warmer than it was at the beginning of the season. Idc what anyone says.
But wait, sultan spoke otherwise. And he believes he is the guru of MU basketball.
