So we would be 1-point dogs against Butler at home? Um, I don?t think so. Vegas hasn?t gotten the memo yet...

It's not an exact science. Home court is usually worth 3 - 4.5 points.

No, we would be 2-point favorites at home. The 3-point swing goes from a neutral court. So...

MU at Butler (-4)
MU vs Butler (-1)
Butler at MU (-2)

Actually, prior to the Seton Hall game, I don't think that MU would have been favored at home against Butler.  Seton Hall is the start of a resume build, more building is needed.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I like this line. MU is starting to put it all together and vegas hasn't caught on yet. Anyone have a favorite place to throw down some action?

Do I think we'll win? yes.  everything neutral I'd say 87-81.

However.....this is a team coming off 3 straight L's and going into Providence after us.  No way they don't see the implications of a 5L streak.  It's a MUST win for them and they will bring their A+ game.

Add to that the fact we have not had a "WTF was that" called game in 10 days and it may be a better W than Seton Hall.

You are correct.  Vegas makes their lines based on what the average bettor's perception is so they can try to balance their books and take the 10% vig. The professional linemakers have large staffs and oftentimes one or two people focus solely on one conference the whole season.

Correction: the average bettor hasn't gotten the memo yet. But, yes, point taken, Vegas doesn't give a damn about that.

I am curious about this myself. I'm not up to speed on state/federal laws governing this business. That being said, feel like I should be able to throw down a $10 bet in Illinois on this game without having to jump through a lot of red tape or have a clandestine encounter with a weathered bookie in a dark alley.

Bovada or Bet Online, but there are plenty of online sportsbooks if you really want to get a bet in.

Wait about 6 months for SCOTUS to rule on Christie vs NCAA, you'll be able to go to Arlington and bet on MU next season.

I think SH game no fluke. No crest in an up and down season. More like that to come. We beat Butler definitively.

Even though Butler is a good team, Villanova 3 barrage was an outlier. 3 tough losses and a 4th coming Friday. Then a loss at Providence and their confidence might be shot enough to lose 1 against DP or STJ. another loss to MU....I see a Butler death spiral courtesy of Marquette.

Just like I thought that Wisconsin line was too high (I want to say Wisco -6.5 before King and Trice went down), I also think this line was too high.  I was expecting more Butler -1/-2.  Feel good about tomorrow and am making the trek south to Indy for it.

Vegas power rankings I use have Butler -1 tomorrow night (that includes 3.5 for home court). MU lines have been odd this year, haven't seen a "true" line in a while.

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE VIG (vigorish), Vegas does not gamble.  Have fun suckers.

Hypothetically speaking, I like mybookie.  Website is very easy to use, although not the wide array of props like bovada.  Allegedly payout speed similar on both.  And mybookie will accept bitcoin as deposit / payout.  Or so I am told.

For reference, Pomeroy has Butler as a 3-point favorite tonight and MU as a 4-point favorite in the latter home game at the BC.

Butler will be angry and I can see MU letting down after Tuesday.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it happenin' tonight.
