Is there any reason not to bet "the mortgage" with this?  Has anyone watched Georgetown this year?  I have a very hard time believing MU would not cover this spread.

Just watched the 2nd half vs. Butler. They were not very good.

Wouldn't surprise me to see MU win by 10+. G'Tpwn has a lot of size, but MU should be able to score and get decent looks at 3s.

GoldenZebra

They gotta win this one. MU cant keep losing home games.

brewcity77

Pomeroy has it as MU by 8. I expect a double-digit win, and possibly a very heavy double-digit win. Georgetown completely capitulated at home against a Butler team that just doesn't look very good. They did nothing to prepare for the harder part of their schedule. It would not surprise me at all if Georgetown has won their last game of the season already.

Where is that spread?

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I'm not a betting man but I would take MU.

Come on.....they aren't going to lose 19 games in a row.

GT wouldn't have been up on BT 18 at the half if it didn't have some flash of talent. BUT...I saw the last quarter of the Syracuse game and they can not hold it together for a whole game. Syracuse wasn't good either. Opportunity to press them...they are a turnover machine when the pressure is on.

I say GT wins ~4 in BE.

Road teams 3-0 last night and winning both games tonight(Providence only up by 1 as I type this).

I'm not saying it's likely, but it truly wouldn't surprise me. I think Georgetown is the worst team in the league by a fair margin. I would put them behind DePaul and frankly don't rate Butler much better than those two. I think GT's two most likely wins were DePaul and Butler at home. They might steal one here or there, might even win 4-5 Big East games, but 0-19 (including MSG) isn't outside the realm of possibility.

You are right....it's not out of the realm of possibility........Pomeroy says they have a  .3%......not 3%.....point 3...

Where is this spread? Don't see it anywhere and it also implies Georgetown would be favored over MU anywhere but Milwaukee.

If I see this spread on any website that I can actually get money into I'm betting the house

PistolBrad

I'm MU is only giving 2 to Georgetown I'm talking to some loansharks tomorrow

This must have been a mistake, I'd expect it to open -9.

Dish

There is zero chance, none, zilch this opens MU -2. Every power rating site has it between -8 and -9.

3rd paragraph is saying opening line is at MU-2
That article is from 2013, as others have said this will be no where near a 2 point spread when the line comes out at some point tomorrow afternoon

Herman Cain

Georgetown looked pretty good to me. Derrickson and Govan are tough bigs.  Derrickson is a very good shooter and clutch. I still think we are better than them oveall, but it is not going to be a romp.

Figures.  Thanks for the news..

bilsu

I only watched part of one early game. What I notice was Georgetown's size and how they blocked out on rebounds. MU will be in trouble, if they are missing their threes.

BM1090

Yeah this spread will be 6 at the lowest. MU -7 sounds about right

Ask yourself this, "are bookies more right than wrong?"  Stranger things happen in basketball than MU not covering the spread. For example, we beat `Nova last year after losing to them. Don't bet what you can not loose. It is likely we will cover the spread but there is a risk if your spread is correct.

You're right, 71. I've been screwed in the past on crazy, crazy plays. Don't bet what you can't lose indeed. I wouldn't put up the house with MU -2 vs. Georgetown, but maybe the garage.

When was the last time a big East team went winless?

Last winless BE team was DePaul in 2009. Only team to go winless in BE play since MU joined the league in '05. Don't have the time right now to go back further.

We had a bad loss to DePaul (is there ever a good loss to them?) right around then - 2008 or 2010.  Was that the only conference game they won that year?
Have some patience, FFS.
