I think this is the first time I’ve ever posted online a text I sent to my daughter who is a sophomore at Madison but here goes...

“If you ever wanted to irrationally get back at me for something, start dating the Badger player Davidson. Otherwise, feel free to trip him when you pass him on the sidewalk.  Be careful, if you bump him he’ll probably go flailing into the street in the middle of traffic expecting a foul to be called!”

Not being a sports fan, she had to look him up and replied she would stick to the tripping.

It’s been a fun day all around.

Just in from the game...

1. Kudos to Goose and guru.  They were spot on.  Marquette hitting shots all over the place and UW's backcourt is terrible.

2.  UW did a nice video tribute to the rivalry before the game.  Sure they showed all UW highlights, but don't tell me they don't think of MU as a rival.

3.  Everyone contributed.  When Markus and Rowsey got in foul trouble, Cain and Elliott really played solid.  I loved Cain's drive and dish to Heldt in the second half.

4.  Speaking of Heldt, great job defensively!  Love the plan for how they doubled Happ.  They did it from the weak side so the pass could not be made to the open man easily.

5.  My brother thinks Gard won't be their coach in 18 months.  Not only were they bad today, he doesn't think there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Congrats to Wojo and the teamfor kicking Bucky's ass on their home floor. Only one other opponent's ass gtting kicked would be as sweet, that being No Dick, but alas, they are too arrogant tp play MU.

Tower was right about the Kohl being worth 15 points. We were +8 on fouls, saw Rowsey and Howard rested because of it, if not for the refs tilting the floor we would've won by 30+.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't think either of the commentators mentioned that T.J. Schlundt was the son of a former Marquette player.  That's usually the type of thing they say 4 or 5 times during a broadcast.

At the game today. Great time. Great win.

Sure, truce and King may have helped them and maybe made it a single digit game. But it surely wouldn't have been a loss or all that close I think.

Great game by Wojo with the coaching. Solid work team. But we gotta keep the ball rolling.
If we win out the Non-con, I think we are a tourney team. Going 10-8 or 9-9 in conference.

Finally got home from the Charlotte watching event and a LONG nightcap. I'm really buzzed, but I'll give it a go anyway ...

1. So much fun. The game actually got a little boring for some at our event! I, of course, never stopped watching. Loved seeing the camera pan the faces of the F%cky players on the bench.

2. If they had Trice, we might have only beaten them by 16.

3. Markus got 3 floaters blocked today and he got into foul trouble, and he was still one of the 2 best players on the floor. Rowsey got a silly T and was also in foul trouble, but he made the very most of the minutes he played. Awesome performance by our two Smurfs!

4. Second-best game of Matt Heldt's career (to his big-time performance against St. John's last season). Didn't back down from Happ. Got some help, but battled one of America's best post players all night. Contributed on offense. Grabbed some boards. Showed great energy.

5. So nice to lead a game from start to finish - and to step on the opponents' throats when we have them down.

6. Loved the energy we got from the freshmen and Sacar.

7. Nice to see guru acknowledge how prepared Wojo had the boyz. Oh wait ...

I continue to think we will finish 3rd in Big East and make it to the second weekend of the tournament . Today we got a road win against a Big Ten rival which is proof of Concept .

Big 3 with 63 equaled entire Badger output. Team ball movement was great.

BE is awfully good at the top. If Harry is a solid contributor we will be very competitive. Can't base much on today's domination of a completely lost UW team. Sweet win for sure but  UW is a hot mess.

Favorite moment was Elliott getting into Rowsey’s face after the technical.  Freshman taking ownership.

6.  The defense was better today because Madison runs motion and not high pick and rolls.
7.  Heldt did a really nice job (with help) on Happ.    He got some points, but he never took over.

Heldt played strong defense all game, not just against Happ. He's learning how to defend without fouling — which sometimes means just standing there with your feet on the floor and your arms straight up when a smaller player is in the paint. Impressed with his positioning against Happ. And he found the open space for a couple easy dunks on drives by Rowsey and company. Smart.

Sacar was really good at timing the double-teams on Happ. When to leave your man, when to get back to him. Created a lot of chaos down low. Again, defending without fouling.

UW is no offensive juggernaut. But this game was the first time all season I was really encouraged by the team defensive play.

Thought Theo looked solid in his limited time on the floor, as well. Wasn't a human foul machine. Hopefully a good sign.

Yeah, that was sick. Surrounded by Badger fans in section 309, it was one of many times you could actually hear their hearts breaking piece by piece.

GE smacked rowsey in the back of the head and snapped at him. It was awesome to see the Fr step up.

Probably the most exciting individual play of the game. Loved it. That poor Reuvers kid didn't have a chance
