Read today they are ranked 22nd in the nation and finished 3rd this week in the Marquette invitational behind #1 Texas A&M and UCLA, but beat Florida State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and many others.

First time MU golf has ever been ranked.  Congratulations to the squad.

I'm surprised they golf that well in the snow.

Seriously, we have a golf team?

That won the BEast last year and is effectively competing against the big boy.  I assume your point was to poke fun at yourself and not our student athletes, yes?

I'm just saying that I find it super surprising that anyone would choose a northern school for a D1 golf program. Plus the fact I was unaware of an actual golf team that was in anyway competitive

University of Illinois is routinely in the top 5 in the country in golf.

The legacy of Stricker brings in the top recruits like MJ at UNC.

One of the selling points of the program is the ability to regularly play at area courses like Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills, the Bull, etc..  Sophomore Matt Bachmann's family owns The Bull in Sheboygan Falls, a Jack Nicklaus course.

Marquette has a verbal from arguably the top golfer in Wisconsin's 2018 class, Tyler Leach from Spring Valley who wanted to compete with freshman Hunter Eichorn.

Isn't being the top golfer in Wisconsin a little like being the top downhill skier in Florida?
Have some patience, FFS.

Someone is being a little over sensitive....

No, I was just providing information about some topflight college golfers from this state.

Phenomenal what has been going on with MU athletics the last number of years.  Men's and women's basketball back doing well.  Lacrosse is terrific. Golf team nationally ranked.  Women's volleyball first place Big East and NCAA participant year in and year out.  Women's soccer remains strong.  Marquette won the President's Award in the Big East last year.  Tremendous.

Men's soccer is the one where I've been disappointed.  Had high hopes for the coach years ago when he was brought in, but they don't seem to be able to get over the hump.

It's hard to not have heard of Mike Van Sickle.

Well, around here. He's a non-factor on the Web.com tour to the rest of the golf world.

He did make the Open last year at Oakmont and got some TV time.

Apparently you don't know much about Trackman.

Jason Day lives in Columbus and trains at OSU's facilities. Winter only prevents actual course play, plenty of technology to keep players training though.

Sure do... I got Matt Haase to tell me the story of his Big East tournament record one night.  Hell of a story.  His second shot of the day was ankle deep in water and still managed to shoot a 64.  The whole round consisted of lucky bounces and craziness.  One of the best stories I've ever heard in my life.

I have found the golf team's next recruit.  And yes, she plays from the men's tees:

Additionally, Mike Van Sickle was quite the stick when he was on campus. Marquette's program has taken a big step and the courses they get to play on are like getting to play in Rose Bowl Stadium.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.
