Quote from: Jockey on May 15, 2025, 01:38:17 PMThat is why Sam never made it on an NBA roster.

But just in case your eyes are bothering you today, I specifically said 'combo guard'.

Jeez, this is worse than comparing him to Bradley Beal and Victor Oladipo.

Sam Hauser is 6'8" and shot .439 from 3 in college. That's why he's in the NBA.

Kam Jones is 6'4" and shot .366. (It only goes up to .382 if you exclude the last year playing point.) Unless he becomes a knock-down shooter, his future in the NBA as a PG.

Again read my post. I literally said, and I quote "But in the end, his future in the league will depend on making shots".

Quote from: The Sultan on May 15, 2025, 01:23:57 PMIf he can't play point he won't be in the NBA long. He isn't athletic enough to be off the ball.

So you think he isn't athletic enough to play against '2' guards. But he is to play against the likes of Curry, Brunson, Harden, Trae Young, Lemelo, SGA, D'Aaron Fox, Luka, etc.?

He will be a combo guard who plays at both spots if, as I said, he shoots it well enough (36% - 40%). And the jury is still out on that.

You're the one who brought up Sam Hauser, who is a very different player. Don't get mad that I pointed out how bad that comparison was.

No. I actually don't think he's an NBA player.

Right. Kam will get a cup of coffee too.

So he's an NBA player.

Lawyered.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Quote from: Jockey on May 15, 2025, 01:16:01 PMI think he will be a combo guard - mostly off the ball. He is exactly the same height as guys like Bradley Beal, Jordan Clarkson, and Victor Oladipo who mostly played the '2'. An inch taller than Marcus Smart. I also think Kam's strength is underrated and he will be physical enough to play with NBA '2' guards.

But in the end, his future in the league will depend on making shots and he has clearly shown he is a better shooter playing off the ball - much better at catch-and-shoot than shooting off the dribble.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I think Kam will have a NBA career. More than a cup of coffee - which is how I'd describe Jerel McNeal's "career" - but probably mostly an end-of-bench guy, like Diener mostly was.

I'll sure be rooting for him.

If he gets a Diener career, that would be great for him. I would be pleasantly surprised.

Agree. Diener was able to hang around long enough to get his NBA pension I think.

Not sure if Kam will be able to do that. But if Juan Anderson can have a 5-year NBA career that included 37 starts, $4.7 million in salary and an appearance in the slam-dunk contest, then just about anybody with a legit dream has a chance!

I could see him being a 2nd string PG to come in and score/distribute. His length might make up for his lack of quickness in guarding smaller guards.

Kolek = NBA player.   Probably never a star.  But an NBA player by any metric.  Never a doubt

Nice to see him getting some playoff points.

Hopefully situations changes next year where he's not the 4th PG on a roster.
