How much publicity for Marquette does a player like jae even generate. I'd say almost zero. Maybe?

On a scale of 1 to 10, Jae is a nice 6 for Marquette mentions. DWade 10, JFB 9, Wes 7.

Juan has been playing under the name Juan Toscano.

I've been seeing him referred to as Juan Toscano-Anderson.

Toscano is his mother’s surname. When he played for the Mexican national team, he adopted the Spanish naming tradition of hyphenating the mother’s surname and the father’s surname, likely to show his heritage so fellow Mexicans weren’t wondering why there was a Norwegian on the Mexican national team.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

Juan Anderson playing in the NBA is just unreal. Talk about being a late bloomer. Guy was a complete bust in college for his ranking. Crazy

Juan is an effective defensive specialist and that is worth something in the NBA. Very happy him and for MU that he is realizing on his dream.
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Congrats to Juan. I would have lost my house on that bet, but hat’s off to him.

Yup, me too.

Juan was misused and poorly coached under Buzz. His one year with Wojo was a breakout season. Wes was held back by Crean, broke out under Buzz. Juan was the opposite.

It shows that who a player plays for in college can matter a lot. In some cases, simply a matter of personalities, in others the system.

He averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists as a senior. He was just a guy.

Yep. His “breakout” is an exaggeration at best. He did shoot better as a senior, but mostly he just played a little more. Actually averaged fewer rebounds, steals, assists and blocks per 40 minutes as a senior than he did as a sophomore and a junior.

I suspect the increase to 68% of minutes played as a senior under Wojo, versus 31% under Buzz, may have been responsible for the "breakout."  Also, guys should generally improve year over year in a college program.

Yet another misguided example of ProJos grasping at straws trying to prop up Wojo against Buzz.  Just stop.

Says the guy who jumps into any conversation ever had here talking only about Bazz and jumps to his defense by bringing Wojo into the conversation, claiming ProJos” are just trying to “prop up” Wojo...despite never having mentioned Wojo. This coming after multiple permabans for doing the exact same thing under previous usernames. Yet here we are, telling other people to stop...

Review the thread genius.  Take a look who inserted Buzz into this thread:  Forgetful - with a forgetful point made.

And just so you know:  The lengths at which you've gone to support Wojo, and defend all things under his tenure, FAR exceeds the lengths Cheeks did with Crean, myself/Lenny's Tap, did with Buzz.  At least our guys had legitimate achievements in their first 5 years on the job.

I didn't say he was a star, but he did make a significant jump. It was his "breakout" year.

Yeah. And the irony of you coming here whining about somebody turning a thread into a Wojo vs. Bazz thread is incredibly rich, given you’ve been banned multiple times for doing just that and just did it in the Juan Anderson thread. So congrats on someone else doing it for once! Your crying about it is hysterical.

Actually I made a statement on how in some/many cases, the development of the player has a lot to do with being a good match in terms of personality and style (of system). It was neither an admonishment of Buzz, nor a celebration of Wojo, rather simply stating something that should be a widely accepted fact.

You turned it into a projo vs. nojo argument. That was never my intention, nor did I think it would go there. What you have shown is that one cannot simply make an observation without sending you on tilt.

Ehh, I agree that he was just a guy at best, one who played a lot more because the team was so poor.  But that just makes him reaching the NBA all the more remarkable.  Will have more points than DJO and Jerel combined most likely.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Who is the guy on this year’s roster not named Markus Howard who is most likely to get time in the Association? It’s probably Bailey but his age does hurt, so I’ll say Sacar if he can continue to improve his 3 and become a poor man’s Wes.

Definitely but with Juan getting time in the NBA...none of the guys should give up the dream. Looking at you, Jamal lol

Also, watched the heat game tonight. Crowder looked great. Double double in his first game with Miami

Jamal would be my pick for surprise cup of coffee in the NBA. All the physical tools and the shooting skills, I could see his weaknesses being shored up with time.

I could see Symir if his shot develops (came to the right place for that). Good size for position and a head for the game that can't be taught.

Too lazy to dig up the WNBA thread, so I'll drop this here:

Ben Steele @BenSteeleMJS
The @ConnecticutSun make it official: Former @MarquetteWBB star Natisha Hiedeman has signed to return with team next season. After signing late last season, she appeared in seven of eight playoff games. #muwbb
