Jamil Wilson doesn't have "supreme athleticism."

He has a 40" vertical but he's not a quick leaper nor does he have much lateral quickness.

I truly hope Jamil makes it on an NBA roster and has a long, lucrative career. He's a great young man and an outstanding ambassador for MU. I'm just not sure that I see what so many others think they see.

However, it looks like he has bulked up a bit on top of much improved shooting, so he could easily find a spot as a 3 & D player with his natural length. Hope it works out for him

Dont disagree relative to the nba, although i do think he is athletic enuff for the nba

I do feel that most times he was the most athleticcplayer on the floor and under achieved relative to his athleticism in college, which was my reference

This makes zero sense.

reality check folks.  We like him because he's from MU, but he's not good enough for the NBA.  Doesn't have the quickness, doesn't have the physicality, and doesn't have the mind-set.  If you want proof that the last two are important, see Matthews, Wes or Crowder, Jae.

Reality check, he's signing a 2 way contract with the Clippers which means at some point he'll probably spend time on their NBA roster unless they go through an entire season without any players getting injured.

Have you seen the Bulls' roster GarPax have attracted?

That would put his vertical on par with Lebron James, who also doesn't have a ton of lateral quickness (he's a power athlete, with great straight line speed).

Would you say James does not have "supreme athleticism"?

For his body type - a combination of linebacker, tight end and Mack truck - James is plenty quick.

The 2017-18 Bulls are going to make a great case for a relegation system similar to the English Premier League... the best D League team comes up and the worst NBA team goes down.  Without this, GarPax idiocy is unpunishable... and Yes, Jamil would not be the worst player on the 2017-18 Bulls.

This would be better off in the AHL where there are a lot of mid sized markets. The Dleague is filled with extremely small markets and teams in the same city as their NBA team

Jamil 2013 one of our best

Jamil definitely always had the raw ability. Great to see him putting it all together.
Agreed Brew. I really am down on how little appreciation there is for Davante and Jamil. I know I am biased toward my own ratings, but I feel strongly that Jamil was the 2nd best player on an Elite 8 team. If so, he is one of only 12 Marquette players who can say that. Even if you disagree on where he ranks among that great surprise team - but regardless throw out the next year because everyone who could play point guard left.

I have him ranked as the 206th best player in the country that season, and that would make him one of the best two players on every Marquette team since DJO and Crowder teamed up. He was ranked at www.kenpom.com in 3-point shooting, overall shooting and blocked shots, and he could press the ball from the inbound pass (remember the elbow he took to the face near the end of the Florida game playing one-on-one defense 84 feet from the basket and the refs refused to call the flagrant).

The biggest injustice I feel MU fans have given players was to Davante and Jamil - seemingly to completely dismiss them for leading our only Elite 8 team since Wade because the next year was so bad. But you can't blame Davante and Jamil for that - you can only blame Vander Blue for leaving the team after a killer early season was put together and to Buzz for not being able to get a point guard or worse yet for Junior Cadougan being put in for a few minutes a few years earlier so he didn't have that one extra year of eligibility.

With teams free to double team Jamil or Davante on every trip because they were willing to give Derrick an open 8-footer if he wanted it, I just don't see how Jamil and Davante aren't getting the credit they should have as heroes leading MU to an Elite 8 with his thrashing of Miami with 3 blocked shots, 8 rebounds and three of four 3-point shots should be our final memory of how good he was for us.

Throw out the senior seasons for Davante and Jamil - Buzz had quit, Vander had left and we didn't have a point guard (I would have loved Derrick as a defensive specialist, wasn't fair to him either).

Best of luck.

i'm sure the people you blame for the poor season have excuses as well, and their previous year stats were probably pretty solid.  hard to use quantitative data to fit your initial argument, and than qualitative data to state that buzz quit.  i think they were good enough to get us to an elite 8 given a lot of luck and their lesser roles.  they weren't good enough to overcome the difficult situation the following year.  that's all.  i think most appreciate what both did for our program...i certainly have found memories overall.

Basically agree - while analytical I have always said I believe the complete absence of point guard play is the one factor that can undo all the other players. Admit it is an excuse, but I think valid. I do also think our fans were incredibly spoiled by the unreal expectations die to 3 straight sweet 16s.
