Barring the inevitable transfers (accept that they will happen and move on) we now know the roster for the next 2 years.     To my eyes, it seems a little forward heavy.    The combination of Elliot, Markus, Sacar, Haanif are going to have to be enough at guard in 18-19, I guess.   Obviously, Rowsey will play big minutes in 17-18.  Hopefully, Elliot and Haanif can develop as back up 1's and maybe slide Cain in as a two for 18-19.     

Wojo will have more than adequate size for his defensive system.      No longer, when the opposing 5 slides out to set the high ball screen and our 5 follows, will there be no size left to defend the rim on rotation.     From another perspective, the collection of forwards that MU will have lends itself to a Syracuse-style 2-3 zone.      Having a collection of 6'6"-6'8" forwards who can handle the ball and shoot (Cain, Hausers, Bailey) as well as a 5 who can handle and shoot (Froling) to go with Markus could be a lot of fun.   

The future is bright.    I hope that, when a transfer occurs, Wojo is able to go out and get another guard to balance the roster.

I am nervous about the PG position.  But I think we are fine at the two. Hannie,  Anim, Elliott, Cain,  Bailey,  and Sam can all play the two.

I think hanni will develop just fine.

That's an insane amount of depth. Gonna be hard to keep everyone happy with their minutes. But thats a great problem to have.  Assuming this is the roster at the start of the season (big assumption) maybe redshirt Bailey to get him back in shape?

On paper, that's a formidable lineup. Love the depth. If we do find a spot open, I'd like to see us land one of those lightning-quick point guards that always seem to give us trouble.

I feel like a transfer or two of inevitable, hopefully that will help with point guard depth, but it's nice knowing our roster is pretty well set for the next 3 years. Only three graduations set in that time. Really makes it easier on the recruiting staff knowing they can focus on just a few slots.

It will be interesting to see how the current players develop.  I wouldn't be surprised if Anim is a better option at the 2 than Haanif in 2 years.

I love the frontcourt but a lot of unknowns in the backcourt.  Cain and Elliott both need to add plenty of muscle and work on skill development.  Cheatham and Anim are also unknowns at this point. Stay healthy Markus!

I could see Eke doing a sophomore redshirt if there are no transfers.  With Morrow sitting out this year and Froling ineligible until 2nd semester, we need Eke this year.  But then the next year we'd have Froling, Morrow, John, and Heldt as bigs, plus both Hausers can play the 4.  That would balance the classes a bit too.

Rocket Watts is my top wish for 2019.  Another recruiting showdown between Wojo and Izzo.  Wojo leads 3-2 but he's only won one of the three battles over Michigan natives.

Next wish for 2019 would be a SG.  Chris Carrawell's son will be one to watch; MU reportedly showing interest along with a few other high majors.

I see Sam is listed as G/F on the roster.  Not sure if that was the same last year.  It makes me wonder if Wojo is attempting to transition him to playing guard so he can have a roster like this in '18-'19.

I think a lot will depend on how Haani progresses this year.   Last year was clearly a disappointment for him.  I also wouldn't be surprised at this point if Bailey never steps foot on campus and his spot is filled with another guard.

Would he get to be a "walk on" without paying a penny since his father is an MU employee?  I believe that's how Doug McDermott was a "walk on" that won the NPOY.

I believe Doug only walked on for his senior season. The first three were scholarship years.

Interesting.  Is there a rule against a student getting free tuition as the son/daughter of a university employee if they are on an athletics team?  I know for "common" students they get free tuition.

Apparently Greg hadn't been on the job long enough. According to this article Doug's family did have to pay his way as a senior because Greg hadn't been employed at Creighton for 5+ years. Guess that's to avoid hiring an assistant to instantly give their marquee kid free tuition.

For Carrawell's kid, he should just qualify as a 2019 prospect (Carrawell Sr arrived in April 2014, son would arrive in campus at earliest around June 2019), assuming his father is still here. I only say that because he was rumored for a low-major HC job a few months back.

I think people are just leery anytime there's a long gap between a player committing and a player coming on campus. People look at recruitments like Phillip Flory as examples. But the reality is that programs like BYU and Utah have been recruiting Mormons for years and the vast majority of them end up on campus.

We have plenty of guards.  Our guards just have size now.

Sure.  I avoided the wording, but yes - we have several guys that can play both the 2G and SF, and probably PF as well.  In previous years, many of these guys would be playing the 4, but fortunately, we have some real size on our roster looking forward, and the days our undersized 4s are probably mostly behind us.  At least once Froling becomes eligible.
