Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Anybody else participate when they were on campus in 2007-08?  I made it past the initial test and got to do the trial run with the other remaining contestants (including eventual runner-up Danielle Zsenak.)  Lazar is right about the buzzer, which caused one of the guys in my group to get super-frustrated.

Fun fact: they make you write down 5 or so "about me" tidbits, which become the basis for Alex's mini-interviews after the first commercial.  I'm pretty sure they're also used to screen for contestants that have some semblance of a personality, where I think I failed horribly.

My wife and I went to the taping in Madison. Danielle Zsenak was one of the contestants.  Saw her first episode for sure. Don't remember if we saw her semi-final taping but I think so. Finals were definitely taped the next day.

One neat thing at the taping was Alex would do Q&A with the audience in-between shows.  We had front row seats so Alex stood right next to us for one of them.

My wife tried out a few times back when she was in high school and college. Never made it past the last phone round. But both of us love the show and enjoy watching it whenever we can.

Not sure how I feel about this.  On one hand, I'm glad no one said Michigan.  On the other hand, I'm baffled that Marquette's state is an $800 question that nobody bothered to answer.

Heck... I'll pick a bunch of Jesuit colleges at random, and I bet I could name all of their home states:

Saint Louis, Seattle, Loyola Maryland, Loyola New Orleans, Loyola Chicago, Boston College, Detroit Mercy, U of San Fran, Santa Clara, Scranton.

It's not baffling, it's obvious: our acceptance rate is too high.

If Lovell would get off his ass and lower the hell out of our acceptance rate, MU would be a daily-double question in no time.

SaveOD and I both tried out. I made it past the initial round. But he got pretty darn close IIRC.

I'm stumped. What state is Loyala Maryland in?

I am not 100% sure, but my bet would be that it is in the same state as Loyola Maryland.
Have some patience, FFS.

Does it also stick in her craw that she agreed to spend the rest of her life with a guy who's in a Blue Brothers tribute band?

You laugh, but if you went to Marquette between 1979 and 1983, you probably saw them perform in the Grill at some point.  At some shows,  they had to stop letting people in due to the fire code.

It was made up mostly of Marquette students who went to Roncalli High School in Manitowoc. Anyone Scoopers ever go to Hammerfest in the summer up there?

For anyone interested, they're taking applications for the online test now.  The test is May 28-30. If you get past it there are auditions in Chicago.

We never stopped letting people in.  We just shooed Toby back upstairs.  He loves telling that story to this day.

I remember them.  Didn't they call themselves the Booze Brothers?

I made it that far as well. There were only about 15 of us that did, right?
I've always prided myself on being smart enough for college Jeopardy, but not interesting enough.

Not the group I am talking about.  They called themselves the Jagoff Blues Brothers. Or "The Jagoffs" for short.
