The new arena will not have a student section in the upper deck in 2018-19.

I'm guessing bilsu meant they could buy single game uppers if they wanted since those tend to be less desirable for season tickets.

Edit: re-reading it I might be wrong here.

There are almost 1500 more lower bowl seats for the students in the new arena. It did not say students could not buy upper bowl tickets, if they miss out on lower bowl. So 1000 students could sit upstairs. More than that were sitting upstairs in the old arena if I understood the article correctly.
They can't buy student season tickets in upper bowl

So MU is going to turn away 1,000 students. That does not seem likely to me. All the article said is they were setting aside two lower bowl sections. I did not see were they would not allow an overrun in the upper section. They would be idiots, if they did not allow that because most games will not sell out.

Well, let's slow the bus. The section is still almost 3,000. It will be a bit tougher to sell those seats as students now have to pay the fees and tax.

They could only buy as single game upper bowl not season ticket package. They only sell about 3,000 student season tix packages and that is about the amount of seats allocated.

Cheecks takes a lot of credit for things that happened in the 90’s.

Many people, were involved.

Mike Deane and others (Jason Krause, Kevin Epps, Touchdown Tom Davis, Andy The Hammer Henry) within the athletic department gave students (specifically the spirit committee, eventually renamed the Student Athletic Board) a voice and general admission was byproduct of that voice.

And I totally believe that MU Athletics is trying to create some demand urgency with this decision.  They also fall all over themselves in their announcement that MU still sets aside thousands more student tickets than almost every other BEast school where the limit appears to be 1000.

Interesting--everything that I have heard is local companies are out. Upwards of $7-10M for 20 years in just too steep.
I would be shocked if a Milwaukee based company antes up for that, but you may know something that I don't.

You are assuming that's what they actually got.

That has been the number that has been thrown around for awhile now.
We will apparently find out shortly if that was actually what they got.

Or not.

I don't believe there is any type of requirement to reveal the terms of the deal, and if it was far below what the Bucks owners were hoping to get, they won't be any hurry to do it voluntarily.
Have some patience, FFS.
