Too early to say. Gut tells me we will be at a similar level to this season. Transfers in/out could change that. Injuries could as well.

What I do think is that the Big East will be an absolute cluster. Teams towards the bottom (SJU, PROV, HALL) lose nobody. Teams towards the top (NOVA, BUT, X) lose a lot. It's gonna be an Fing mess.

+1

End of the day, think we're about the same. Need to continue to strengthen OOC games.

If we strike lightning twice with freshmen ready to contribute it could be a fun year. If I had to bet, I'd guess a similar year

Jay Bee

I think people will be very pleased with Froling.

Offense will be very good again.

Defense will decide if the season is successful or not. We will finally have some quickness/size combo inside - but it will be young.

But there is absolutely no way that the defense will be as bad next year. Last night may have been the worst defensive performance I have ever seen by any team.

IF our defense majorly improves we could have 20-25 wins no doubt

I don't really see where all the optimism is coming from. Defense is a mystery - an offensively-challenged So. Car. put up 93. If I were Wojo, I would only practice defense for the first two weeks. If, as has been reported, "they're not interested in playing defense," I'd reward the ones who want to play D. I think Hauser will be improved, and will benefit from the length coming in with the Frosh. Markus is still a kid, and should continue to develop. He needs to work on the TO;s and learn how to foul less so he can stay on the floor.  Haanif has work to do - I am very concerned about him. I note that JB is optimistic on Froling, and I hope he's as right on that count as he was on Markus. Always worry when freshmen are expected to solve a team's problem.
Without a transfer, don't see much upside next year. It was great to get to the dance, but I'd love to be more competitive in the tournament than this year.

At Moscow

It took me far too long to realize this meant Madison, and not that we had scheduled a road game at Idaho.

25? And people call me a cockeyed optimist. I can see anything from 18-21 being realistic. Unless one of our freshmen is secretly Anthony Davis, 25 sounds crazy. I mean, I would love you to be right, but we will be counting on a lot of inexperience up front.

Guess would be low end is the other side of the bubble, high end a year where we're in and out of the top 25 a couple times.  Every year is different though.  Might get some help from the freshmen, Froling, Sacar, and possibly another add.  But who makes strides in their game is the most critical thing - do Howard and/or Hauser become elite players as sophomores, does Cheatham right the course or Duane get back to being more than a role player or Heldt more than an effort guy?  Lastly, how does the staff address some of the dire weaknesses of this team, with what was often than not a completely inept defense being at the top of the list?

I suspect we'll be better, especially if Cain and Froling can step right in.

One thing for sure - If we win 19, go 10-8 in conference, 0-1 in the BEast tournament, get a 10 seed and only lose in round 1 by 19 some will hail the great progress made vs this year. LOL - just kidding, boys and girls.

When will froling be able to play next season? Would love his first game to be against the rodents

After grades are posted for the first semester.  While the UW game isn't scheduled yet, it is usually well before the end of the first semester.

WarriorFan

5 returning starters
A big who can spread the floor
shooters, shooters, and more shooters
Sacar brings some strength
Cheatham develops
Some good / some bad from Frosh

All of that sounds quite a bit better than this year.

Didn't someone say that the game will have to be pushed back or something because of the BT tourney

With the weird B10 schedule next year, it may not be able to be earlier.  There is a decent chance (50/50) that it will be late enough next year that he can play.

I think Froling would match up well against Happ (but I think Happ should go pro if he gets a 1st round grade).

I think we will have a good mix next year.  Don't mind losing Reinhardt.  Froling should fill in nicely for Fischer.  If Cheatham can get back to freshman year he can be our JJJ.  Howard and Hauser have experience.  I expect the incoming height to hit on at least 1 solid freshman.  Could be a really good mix.

Xavier does not lose anything really important.  I see them as the top team next year.  If Patton stays CU will be good.  Villanova will slide a bit.  SJU is improving and Providence will be similar to this year.  To me that puts us at around 5th maybe 4th.  But we need to get tough on defense.  Hoping the bigs can assist with that.  I'll say 22 wins based on better mix of players and continuity in the Wojo system.

Villanova wont slide too much but losing Hart,Bridges and Jenkins will be tough but they will get Spellman who had to sit out all last year and 3 decent recruits. They will probably land a transfer or 2

Bridges is a redshirt soph.  He will be back.

I'm not betting on Bluiett coming back for X. Sumner obviously will be

5 starters, sure  (Matt Heldt, seriously?) - but we do lose three guys who were among our top 5 in minutes per game.
