Lots of questions but there's enough returning talent and new talent coming on board to expect a tourney berth.

Daniel

Here's my take: who the heck knows?  Will the team learn pick and roll defense and not be ranked 347 out of 351?  Will the bigs rebound?  Will our long-range shooting continue?  No idea what we will do next year.  Hoping for the best and hoping we land some great recruits to fill out the roster and for 2018.  Go Marquette!

Seems about right. Let's see what happens with the 2 open spots and roster attrition. I acknowledge it happens but won't speculate about transfers on the message board.  My preference.

A stronger non-conference schedule.

Man, I really have no idea. It depends on how ready Cain and John are. Who gets the last scholarship. How Froling progresses.

Let's get the roster set and worry about it then.

I think a lot of the frustration with this team comes from the fact that they overachieved on a regular basis which caused us to have slightly overinflated expectations at times. Next year I want to see more toughness and and better athletes. If not I will ask for a seat on the "Wojo on the hot seat"band wagon. I didn't think we would make the tournament this year so I am ok with overall results. I think next year will be slightly better but frustratingly inconsistent again. Back in the tournament as a 10 seed but next year we make it to the Sweet 16. The year after that we spend most if not all of the season in the top 25 and make some noise in the tournament as a 4 or 5 seed.

Tough to predict wins without knowing non conference schedule.

BE is going to be really tough again.  DU, GU and SJU will likely be the bottom 3.  I could see us being 6-7 again as other teams are loaded.

I think we are a bubble team and expect another up and down season.

If nobody transfers and Marquette has another season of good health.... 22-23 wins.  5 seed.   Second weekend.  Injuries and transfers, all bets are off.

Do we think any transfers are likely? Seems like this group is all pretty happy with where they are at - only one I can think maybe is Cheatham (feels like he could be a stud at a mid-major).

BE gonna be really good.  Sju, ceighton, seton hall, and prov all basically lose no one

I think we know a fair amount of the non-league schedule to at least make an educated guess.

At Moscow
UGA at home
Maui - Cal, LSU, Michigan, ND, Va Com, Wichita - 2-1 a reasonable guess against that field
Gavitt Game
7 Hairy's

10-3 non-conference seems like a reasonable guess.

11-7 in BE would represent improvement.

1-1 BET

1-1 NCAAs

I'll say 23-12 for next year.

GO WARRIORS!

20-21 wins
10 in Big East
5th in conference
NCAA, but near bubble like this year

I'll adjust yours slightly:

11-2 Non-conference
10-8 Conference
1-1 BET
1-1 NCAAs

Overall 23-12.

National title ... or Wojo gowne!

And even then, he'd better win the title game by at least 12!!!

This. Far too often folks expect way more from the new guys than is realistic. We need athletes and size. time will tell.

I have a lot of optimism for next season.  The shooters (sans Katin) all come back, Sacar/Duane/Hannif/Heldt are all a year stronger and more polished, Froling could have a similar impact that Luke had his first few months for us in 2015, Theo should give us a (PF version) banger down low we haven't had since like Otule, and I really think Jamal Cain could be a beast (over time) and the standout of the new group.  Has all the measureables and can stroke with a nice midrange game, just needs to put on another 10-15 lbs of muscle to contribute early.  I think of it like I thought of JJ when he came here: similar playing styles except Jamal is 3/4 inches taller with a much better shot coming in, hence him realizing said potential sooner.  And Wojo, while coming up short for some, has shown to be great in the grad transfer market: I'd expect we get a difference maker again this offseason.

However, my biggest fear for next season is how much shooting we'll have to give up to become an adequate/less shitty defense.  What made this year so exciting was throwing Luke at the 5 and surrounding him with 4 40%+ three point shooters at once (I think Katin was close to 40%), or just our general 4-out 1-in sets.  It made us absolutely lethal all year, even though our defensive struggles were equally historic.  The worry is that while we will add Theo John, Sacar Anim, etc. types in the mix at the 3/4 to help defensively, how much will we be subsequently giving up on offense?  Will the shooting and offense we give up be greater than the improvements our defense will see with more traditional 5-man lineups?

I can see an offensive lineup, when all eligible, even more terrifying like:
Howard
Rowsey
Cain
Hauser
Froling

But I expect we'll see more traditional splits of:
Howard / Rowsey
Duane / Cheatham
Hauser / Cain / Sacar
John / Hauser
Heldt / Froling / Eke (RS)

Excited to see who else we bring in with the extra scholies and can't wait for November.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Too early to say. Gut tells me we will be at a similar level to this season. Transfers in/out could change that. Injuries could as well.

What I do think is that the Big East will be an absolute cluster. Teams towards the bottom (SJU, PROV, HALL) lose nobody. Teams towards the top (NOVA, BUT, X) lose a lot. It's gonna be an Fing mess.

Need another guard.  We are an injury away in the backcourt of having a rough season.  Hopefully we add a senior transfer or Elliott and then we can make predictions.
