For tickets...is it best to purchase through Marquette ticket office? Anyone know what those seats are like?

Live in Greenville, but no longer a season ticket holder...so need to get some tickets. I would prefer to seat in the student/ Marquette section.

Thanks.

Through MU to start. Duke and SC will suck up tickets for this session.

You can always call the Marquette ticket office and request them, but season ticket holders will get priority.
Have some patience, FFS.

Here's how NCAA tourney ticketing generally works:

MU receives notification of its ticket allocation either last night or this morning.
Season ticket holders and B&G donors have until 5:00p today to request up to 4 tickets through their gomarquette.com account.
After the deadline this evening, MU will notify those who will be receiving tickets.
Tickets are will-call only, i.e. picked up in Greenville day of (or sometimes day prior to) the game by the season ticket holder/donor of record.

Notes:
- If you are not a season ticket holder, you can try to call the athletics ticket office to request tickets, and best case is you'll be waitlisted.

- Tickets are distributed in this manner to prevent scalping and other teams from scooping up another team's allocation (which has been done in the past *cough* thanks Holy Cross).

- Tickets are allocated based not only on Priority Points but also current year giving to Blue and Gold (not other MU funds).  Works like this... everyone who makes a request is placed into a bucket according to how much they have given to B&G in the current fiscal year (7/1-6/30).

$25,000+ = Bucket 1
$12,000-24,999 = Bucket 2
$3,000-11,999 = Bucket 3
$2,500-2,999 = Bucket 4
$500-2,499 = Bucket 5
$100-499 = Bucket 6

To allocate, MU first takes everyone in Bucket 1, sorts them according to their priority points, and allocates the number of tickets requested to each requestee in order from top (most points) to bottom.  After everyone in Bucket 1 has received their allocation, the process repeats itself with Bucket 2, and so forth until the allocation is exhausted.

What is unclear is if season ticket holder requests are handled before donors who are not season ticket holders, i.e. whether donors-only would go into a "Bucket 7" or if they are still bucketed by donor level (if any).  For example, let's say Keefe, who hasn't been to an MU game since the Carter administration, donated $15,000 to Blue & Gold this year and put in for three tickets... does he go into Bucket 2, or is his request handled in Bucket 7?  I honestly do not know, but if I had to guess, he'd probably be in Bucket 2 (even if he didn't use his real name).

Tickets are also allocated best to worst... in other words, if MU gets the entire section(s) behind the bench in its allocation, the first donors out of Bucket 1 will be sitting right behind the team, and the last donors out of Bucket 6 will be in the nosebleeds (relatively speaking).

For everyone else... good luck with Ticketmaster and StubHub.  First round games in the Carolinas are a bitch to get - even on the secondary market - unless you're willing to fork over some serious dough because inevitably either Duke or UNC is placed close to home and the host team's tickets are usually sold out well before Selection Sunday... additionally, I've seen vultures circle the losing team's fans after the game hoping to score extra tickets for Sat/Sun, but nothing like I saw when MU was in Winston-Salem in 2007 (and that was only UNC).  Greenville having both plus another home team down the road coming into town spells out serious profit margins for the host team's fans who swallowed them up months ago.

That said, you can sign up for the waitlist through Ticketmaster in case any allocations come back (or additional tix are released): http://www.ticketmaster.com/2017-ncaa-div-i-mens-basketball-greenville-south-carolina/event/0E005153E5908929?artistid=1239566&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=7

If you can't get tickets through MU's ticket office, you might want to make friends with someone from Troy... or maybe call their athletic department.... but make it very clear to them that you're a Marquette fan, because I'm sure they're already being bombarded with phone calls from Duke fans.

And on that note, to the Heels and Dookies posing as long-lost MU fans: it's been three years since we were in the tournament.  In other words, there's a lot of angst and pent up demand for this game.  But with that in mind, I assume you're here because you already got shot down by Troy, so I'll help you out.  Here's the secret link that will get you some of Marquette's tickets, guaranteed: https://muconnect.marquette.edu/sslpage.aspx?pid=191
In the dropdown box where it says "Designation," select 'Blue and Gold' and change the number in the first box to anything over 25,000.

Great info, Benny. Thanks.

I am not a big donor but I have nonetheless thrown my name in for tix. We'll see what happens. I am prepared to stay home and watch with other Charlotte-area Warriors if I can't get MU tix. What I am not prepared to do is fight with Dookies and Cheatin' Heels for overpriced tix located nowhere near the MU seating section.

Some assistance from our Carolina-based Warriors here on what there is to do in the area on Saturday between games would be appreciated.

I could give all kinds of guidance for Charlotte. For Greenville, 2 hours away, I haven't a clue.

Can confirm. Does guarantee tickets. Highly recommended for our Duke and NC friends as a fast way to tix.

As I said before, best chance is to get through MUAD as each school has equal allocation and I doubt MU fills theirs. UNC, Duke and USC will suck up all others.

Someone needs to post this on DukeScoop and NCScoop.

And if a few fair-weather MU fans/nondonors don't get tickets because of this, I am willing to live with that.

Just curious, with 8 teams total at this site, what are the per-school allocations like? 1,000? 1,200?  1,500?

How many people does the Greenville arena even seat (and how many of those seats are already spoken for by local purchasers of all-session tickets long ago).

At this time Athletics is "only selling tickets to season ticket holders and students. They have till 5pm to request tickets through us. If you call the ticket office tomorrow at 414 288 4668 we can let you know if we have any available in our allotment to sell. However it is not a guarantee."

Bon Secours Wellness Arena seats just a tad under 16,000 for basketball.

For those that have received tickets.  What sections are the student/alumni in?

I might buy some general public tickets as a back up...but would like to be near the marquette section.

MU's allocation (alums and students) is Sections 112/113 and the first few rows of 218.

Adding here. The NCAA even seeds hotels and seating sections. So Duke is a 1, USC is a 2, MU is a 3 and Troy is a 4 for this session. Section 112/113 is directly across from MUs bench, which is behind Duke's bench in the first game. Those are sections 103 and 104.

Same with the hotel. MU is 7th seed in hotel picks, which may be combined with some other schools.

Just got a ticket. Don't know exactly where it is yet, but it's with the MU crew somewhere.

See y'all there! Go MU!

The NCAA has a lot of experience with this.  They know who they need the really big facilities for.  Wouldn't be surprised at all if MU is sharing its hotel.

Just got my tickets as well through the ticket office as well.  Glad I didn't have to resort to paying StubHub prices or scalping when we got there.

As of right now, only one of the "flagship" hotels downtown Greenville has any Fri/Sat availability whatsoever (Embassy Suites).  Aloft, Hyatt Regency, Westin, Hampton, Courtyard... all booked.  Even the Swamp Rabbit Inn (WTF kind of hotel name is that?) is booked.

However, as soon as team hotels are announced, space should start to free up.  Like Coach Martin said... these dookies and heels have been doing this long enough to know that you book a room at every possible hotel that has free cancellation and cancel all but one 24 hours prior.

Hell, I'm up to three reservations myself right now, two of which are downtown.  It's like collecting marbles.

Got tickets in the MU section.  Awesome!
Next issue...my yellow marquette shirts are not in good shape. They should have some stands set up to buy gear before the game, right?

The game site usually sells two basic types of commemorative apparel - stuff that has individual school names and stuff that has all eight teams at the site.  Outside of this, team-specific apparel (that isn't emblazoned with "Greenville, South Carolina" or "Road to the Final Four") typically isn't sold at the games, though if I had to guess, there may be street vendors hawking Duke and UNC gear as the exception. As far as "authentic" MU gear, your options are a) overnight shipping from the Spirit Shop or b) have someone mule something down from Milwaukee.  There's will probably be some MU swag at the team hotel prior to the game, maybe some stuff to purchase (but I wouldn't count on it unless others can confirm this is the case).
