OK, I'll partially contest.  People are asking me to ignore Sam's 19pts, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and one assist -- and choose the guy with 15 pts, 10 reb, and...well, that's it!?!?

Admit it.  You all just want to see every active scholarship player get a SOTG!  Do you think we just give participation ribbons here!?!

If I admit it, will that sway you?  I'll admit it.  During the game I was hoping that Heldt would have a big game so that we'd see every active scholarship with a SOTG.  I thought that would be kind of cool.  But, as I said, I was hoping he'd have a big game.  I wanted him to deserve it; to earn it.  And he did.  Heldt for SOTG.

Guy isn't very talented but he works his a** off and gets the most out of his ability.

He was talented enough to get multiple D1 offers....and he is talented enough to have 15-10 in a Big East game in a must win for his team near March...Maybe didn't come in with much "talent" but Wojo and the weight room are making him into something.

I voted for Heldt because I think he deserved it, but Sam did have a heck of a game. I especially liked his great diving, sprawling save of a ball headed out of bounds ... except that Haani turned it over about 2 seconds later. And I think that might have been it for Haani for the night.

I also very much liked Sam's two mid-range jumpers after nice fakes shed the defender who had closed on him. After the first one, I said that if he did that more often it would make him a more dangerous, well-rounded player. After the second one, Bardo said the same thing. Which either confirms my superior intellect or worries the hell out of me.

Sam was brilliant not just on his early 3s but his two pull-up moves. Hadn't seen that from him creating his own shot. His best game of the season, I thought.
