Can someone tell me why JJ was replaced by Duane at the end of regulation?  Duane can't hit a jump shot to save his life.  It doesn't go into OT if JJ plays.  Furthermore, if Duane played in OT instead of JJ, we lose the game.

About halfway through the second half, JJJ on consecutive possessions took a terrible shot and then turned the ball over.

Duane  is a better defender.  And is only a slightly worse shooter.

Consistent defensive effort.    Less likely to take a dumb shot.      And, when Duane made a couple of bad (IMO tired) plays in OT, JjJ came back in focused.   With a healthy Duane, Wojo has options when JjJ's head leaves the floor.

Duane's more likely to stay at home on defense. Hard to completely defend JJ in OT when he followed up hitting a three by letting his man respond a heartbeat later. I didn't have a problem with Duane being in there. Also didn't have a problem with JJ being in there, they bring different things to the table but both have a place on this team and on the floor.

Repeated poor shots, turnovers, and defensive lapses.  At least twice after turnovers he stood and stared while SH ran down the court, including the one where Markus had to chase the guy down to deny the breakaway.  You're right, it doesn't go into OT if JJJ plays -- we probably lose.

Duane , OTOH, was fired up and playing with a chip on his shoulder.  There is no question that JJJ is the more physically gifted player, but he is still plagued by many of the same boneheaded mistakes that he had as a freshman.  Last night, Duane outplayed him.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Man. Reading scoop today, you'd assume we lost.

Did we almost blow it? Yes...
But did we lose? No...

I don't feel like I have to "twist to defend this" because we won. We beat a good SHU team. I've got no problem with that at all. If we replicate that type of result the rest of the season, it'll be a very good year.

Totally right. 8 more wins and most likely in.
7 more and we sit on the bubble or in the top seed NIT spot (which I expected this year).

Yup.   Need to go 8-6 over the last 14 games.    2 games each against the bad teams. DePaul, St. John's, Providence. 1 more against Georgetown.   If MU does their job, that is 7.     Need to win one game out of  Butler (2), X (2),  Creighton (2) (don't see it.  Damn, they are fast), home game against Nova.   IMO, the peak is 12-6.    The valley is 7-11.   Doable.

Man I really think we end up 9-9.
I see us stealing a win from X or butler. Then losing one to providence or St. John's.

Is winning at home against X or Butler really stealing one?

I mean yeah we may be the underdogs but those are not far fetched wins at all.

Yes, it would be.   After Saturday, 3 straight losses are likely.   Accept it.   Don't come unglued and say things that come back to bite you.
