Getting the loose ball was critical and he had a wide open lane. It was an excellent play and fully within his capability, he was going to get fouled anyway. JJJ has been playing smart all year. We want the ball in his hands at the end of the game. Not so much because of what he is going to do , but rather because he is going to look for the right play first, which most of the time means giving the ball up.

I give credit to the coaching staff for working with him so hard and I give credit to the kid for completely buying into what they are teaching.

A summer in the weight room with Todd and some focus on being a lock down defender and he will have a memorable senior year.

Apparently you guys don't have enough stuff in the present or future to worry about.

You have to dredge up stuff from the freaking past and ponder how it could have gone wrong.
Have some patience, FFS.

To me, it is the obvious correct play.  In that instance you are trying to get away from the defenders to waste as much time as possible before being fouled.  If you're going to speed away from the defenders you may as well head to the basket and if you get to the basket first you may as well lay it in.

Agree, I think this is the aggressive driving offensive that Wojo is developing.  This year we are a very good FT team.  Last year not so much.

Or Consider

If Henry missed that corner 3.  StJ grabs the rebound and is off to the races with Henry way behind the play.  Based on the way the game was being called they likely get 2 free throws and MU is now down by 3.
Don't like a 27% 3 point shooter taking that shot early in the shot clock.  That was the time to drive the ball to the lane, get fouled and hope for the shot plus the foul.
It worked but 3 out of 4 times it goes the other way.  A bad decision that worked.

Corner three is one of the highest percentage shots outside of a layup. Henry was wide open. Plus he's been shooting 38% from three over the last 11 games. It was a great decision

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Uh.. I have no idea what's going on in this thread.

Did everyone forget Buycks v Louisville?

I might be totally mis-remembering 'Scoop after that game, but I don't recall many defending his decision in that situation.

Buycks wasn't ahead of the defense.  He had a defender to beat.  Big difference.
