If you're still trying to figure out who's the "blue light" and who's the "gold light" in this relationship....

My wife 'owns' all you guys.  That was damn funny.  And I've heard ALL her jokes.  Well done, honey.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Obnoxious maybe was the wrong word. I just really, really love Marquette as a school and our basketball program has always been a huge source of pride for me. I only waved my arms "up" at key points in huge games. I'm sorry if that is inappropriate behavior.  Harsh crowd here. "Pretty Boy?"  Did you take a Logic class at MU? If anything, the pretty boys are the image conscious hand-sitters. And my beer gut would beg to differ with your label, lol.

If that is the case, I saw about 50 "Pretty Boys" last night raising their arms at a key late point in the game.

You mean when the whole crowd naturally stood up at key points in the game?

There are some so-called "pretty boys" who stand and wave their arms as - or shortly before - the fans around them begin to stand and then honestly believe that it was their arm-waving that got the crowd to stand and make some noise...not the fact that it was a big possession in an exciting, nip-tuck game down the stretch.

Put me down for the obnoxious arm wavers.

The rest of you should care more.

It took a long time for that crowd to get going last night, and I don't get it. Outstanding basketball game, and it was quiet for the majority of it.

Great game on many fronts.

Not perfect game, but a great game.

Seeing this thread pop up again is really impressive. Figure if the "Marquette Lights App for Saturday's game" is still getting posts, we must have convinced Butler to utilize Marquette Lights?

Dude, what is your thing with me, man? Can you even read??? In a prior post I even stated that I take no sense of  responsiblity for starting anything noise or standee wise. Also, if you have comprehension problems, there is help available. I only brought the story up to relate that I'm not firmly entrenched in the "sweater vest" camp, and that I'm actually loud and into the game like supportive students are. And I admitted that I overreacted when it was a pivotal point of a quiet weeknight game, and i felt the people around me should allow me to stand briefly and cheer wildly. I apologized, Dude and I wish I didn't have to apologize for caring so much! I even said I was embarrassed when I found it the guy was at every home game since McGuire. The whole point of my post was that I figured out that the old-timers (vests) really care about MU, just like me, and some are limited in how they can support the school we all love. I was wrong. I can admit when I'm wrong.  You turned the whole post into a personal attack on me.

Being "an obnoxious fan" doesn't necessarily mean that someone is passionate and a fan who cheers without making a scene doesn't necessarily make someone unpassionate.

Okay. But we're not talking about an obnoxious fan. Were talking about someone who stands and cheers during key moments of basketball games even when those around him don't. If that's all he's doing, than thats a passionate fan.

As for the second part of that sentence, yes and no. They can certainly be passionate, but its a different kind of passionate. Everyone can be whatever kind of fan they want to be, but I'd rather have the fans who show it.

I guess I just don't get it, I grew up in a family that goes all out at sporting events. Didn't matter how old we'd still get our jerseys on, paint our faces, and go cheer the team on whether that was the Packers, Brewers, or Marquette. Now I work for a university where our version of sweater vests stand and scream and do the yells at football games. I'm fine if other fans don't want to get to that level, its exhausting and you need to be able to put yourself out there, but I don't understand the need of some to judge those of us who do. Someone on here once told me it was embarrassing for me to wear a Marquette jersey to a game. That makes no sense to me.

I thought the crowd was pretty good all night and was surprised by how many did the lights on their phone again.
