At the game yesterday, the stat came up on the Jumbotron that we have played the University of Maine 4 times in Marquette history. I was surprised that we would have played a historically mediocre, far-away team that many times.

That got me thinking:  Which current D-1 teams have we managed to avoid playing in our 99-year history?  My guess is that there are fewer than 25, mostly teams that are relatively new to D-1.

Is there a complete list of every game played readily available?  If so, I would be glad to assemble the list of the teams we have never faced.
Have some patience, FFS.

GooooMarquette

Kinda surprised to see so many hoops programs with long (and good) histories, like St. Joe's, Maryland and Oklahoma on the list.

Thanks!

It would be kind of a cool goal for the Athletic Department to pick a few of these off every year.

There are a number of these that are reasonably close.

We actually did knock off a couple this year. First time we've ever played Belmont and Jackson State.

I'd like to see if we could schedule a couple of the small Jesuit schools over time as buy games.  I wonder if Seattle U. would make the trip?

Here:

They list a player named Lee Oliver as having worn the uniform "number" 0. I don't remember that guy.

Also, the fact that Jim Chones hasn't been honored with a retired number is an outrage. He is certainly one of the 5 greatest to ever lace up a pair of Chuck Taylors for the Warriors.

We should give Jodi O'Brien a call to set that up.

We got one last season, Alabama A&M. I would like to see this list shrink as well

I'd actually like to see the list change where we play some powers and\or big schools that we haven't played in ages.

UCLA, we haven't played in 51 years....only played them twice
Cal, never played them
Texas, almost 40 years...only played them once.
Indiana, one time in the last 30 years...in Alaska of all places
Purdue.....45 years
Bradley....30 years  (not a power or big school, but surprised it has been this long)
Illinois....20+ years
Michigan State.....one time in the last 50 years and that was a NCAA tournament game
Michigan....one time in last 25 years....neutral site game
Kansas....one time in last 20 years and that was a NCAA tournament game

Ohio State....20 years

Assume you meant someone other than OSU. We just finished a home and home with them

That was just me screwing up.  Thanks for the catch.  I think I blocked out both losses so much I pretended we didn't play them.

The game in 1990 was at Crisler Arena (I was there).

I think he was referring to the 2009 game in the Old Spice Classic. The 1990 game is why he added the qualifier of in the last 25 years

O Lee was from Florida. Played in the late 70's. Highly recruited but I always felt he just fell short of expectations.

I remember O Lee from Deland, FL. He is Doc Gooden's nephew. What I was pointing out is that Marquette has him listed as Lee Oliver. That is damned inexcusable. O Lee was one of the highest ranked prepsters when he signed with MU.

He and Sam Worthen were herbsmen of no small repute.

Both were there when I was at MU, and yes they, along with Artie Green, REALLY enjoyed the ganja.

Lee was extremely talented and pretty much ruined his career before he ever let it really get started.

We have played them, but I find it amazing we have not played UCLA in the last 50 years.

I think we will play Bradley sooner rather than later now that Brian Wardle is their coach.
