While I applaud the reference, the Banquet last year was at the Harley Museum.

Derrick must have won the award for most bricked free throws in a Marquette uniform.

As usual, Scoop posters get the award for Most Classless.  While long, the BBawards banquet was outstanding last night.

Okay, if you follow @MarquetteMBB on Twitter, you already know all the winners, but I promised, so:

Hank Raymonds Sportsmanship Award:  Luke
Father Kelly Team Morale Award: Sandy and Jajuan
Dwayne Wade Legacy of Leadership Award:  Derrick, Juan, and Matt
Top Scholar-Athlete Award:  Derrick
Coaches Award: Luke
Iron Eagle Award: Derrick
True Blue Award: Derrick
Best Field Goal Percentage: Luke
Best Free Throw Percentage: Matt
Best Rebound Average: Juan
Most Assists: Derrick
Most Improved Player:  Duane
Best Defensive Player: Derrick
Most Valuable Player:  Matt

Other notes:

-It appears that STJ is a non-person as far as MUBB is concerned.  He did not show up for the banquet, his name was not printed in the program with the other players, and he was noticeably absent from all the highlight footage.  I didn't even notice him in the background of any clips.
-The floor of the BC was a great place to have the banquet.  And yes, the food was good, I had a great seat (center, one table behind Wojo), and the sound system was excellent.
-They lowered all of the banners to stage level, and I loved that Wojo mentioned several times that he was going to make sure that there will be many more.
-The assistant coaches gave out some of the awards.  Chris Carrawell is a great speaker, and I was amused to learn that even though he has spent a decade in other parts of the country and world, Travis Diener's Fond du Lac accent has not faded one bit.
Have some patience, FFS.

It was very nice last night, but way too long. Left before it was over and was still there for almost 4 hours.

I know this makes me sound like a jerk, but the addition of the awards for the spirit squad and band members did not add to the program IMO.  Let them have their own dinner.

It stinks to only have 8 (7) players when holding this event.  Onward & upward...

Hmm.  My recollection is that previous transfers usually were at the banquet and announced afterwards.  I wonder why the change?

Also, its a Friday...day after the banquet...wonder if there will be any announcements.

What worries me is that jsglow jr says he hasn't seen him around much at all since he announced he was transferring.  That's unusual since they have the same major (but no classes together this semester) and Steve used to ride his LIMO a lot. Let's just hope STJ has simply decided to keep a low profile.

It was great that the band and spirit squad seniors were there, but do we need all these long speeches by everyone. Lovell and Bill Scholl speech was killing me. A four hour event is way too long.

I will add that it was a very nice tribute to Fr. Kelly.  He's being 'reassigned' by the Jesuits.  I read that as retiring.  It was clear that the players and coaches love him.
