According to @HoopDirt Billy Gillispie will be the new head coach of Ranger College (JC in Texas)

Kentucky to Ranger College in what, 6 years?  That a steeper decline than the 1929 stock market crash.

Is he seriously that unemployable? No D1 even wants him as an assistant?

It's like going from CEO of Apple to night manager at Radio Shack. Both selling electronics but they're not even in the same universe.

As if "manager" didn't make your point as strongly.

LOL good stuff.  God bless you, Scoop.

Don't forget the path that Quinn Snyder took, every bit down in the basement and now he's back and the head coach of a NBA team.

I'm not sure about that. Snyder did NBDL and Euro. JC is pretty low on the totem

He was out of hoops for about a year or 18 months...then became the head coach of the Austin Toros for three years.  Worked his way into the NBA as an assistant, then went to be an assistant in one of the Russian basketball leagues, etc, etc.

There's some interesting paths to the NBA - for coaches and players!

Have some patience, FFS.

Had a couple of friends from from UK that lived in Lexington during his time and they said he was a train wreck.  He was getting hammered most nights trying to pick up college girls.

Not that there is anything wrong with that but tough to keep a good rep.

According to www.hoopdirt.com, Ranger College will hire former Kentucky head coach, Billy Gillispie, to be their new men's basketball coach. Gillispie has been the head coach at Texas Tech, Kentucky, Texas A&M and UTEP. He has also been an assistant at various levels. Gillispie played at Ranger College for one season in 1979-80 according to multiple websites.

Ranger went 2-23 during the 2014-15 season under the guidance of former NBA player Robert Reid this season. Ranger's website still lists Reid as the head coach.

Rangerettes are Kilgore College!

I know, but I thought that maybe they had renamed the school since the Rangerettes were the only thing they had going for them....

Agreed, but Lyle Alzado attended there!
"Following his failure to receive a college scholarship offer, Alzado played for Kilgore College, a junior college in Kilgore, Texas. After two years, he was asked to leave the team, he later contended, for befriending a black teammate."
