I'm actually pretty sure he just had a game recently where he made that many 3's in a single game.

Weight room....another JuJuan Johnson. Eh, he might be a good player. I liked the kid #32 in the white better.

Nothing special here, lets go home. Sandy Cohen type player and he does not look better than him to me. Until further notice I would have passed...but they like. Okay. No problem.

I do like his name though Sacar Amen, oops I mean, Amin. LOL. It's pretty cool or dope as the young kids say today.

Not really that impressed otherwise. Will have to be one of those 'show me first' players to get me out of my seat about.

No real first step explosion and will have to rework his shot a bit if he is ever knocked off balance and will have to get a bit stronger to get it over bigger guys.

Seems like a '2' and that is about it. Don't they have other guys like him that are coming in? He was NOT challenged in this entire video like he will be in college.

Some of these videos many of you get enamored with most of these cats from what I see, they have not been challenged and bumped and there is no way you can tell IF they can go when the bright lights come on.

He moves well up and down the court though, but I have not seen him off the ball here.

He is the kind of kid I would have to go and see in person. This is not a good selling video of him at all. But thanks, I will do what I can with it.

I have not seen his handle. Can he create his own shot off the dribble? About 3:20 in the video he showed me he can and he used his body well too on that shot...I like.

Let me see more... At 4:20 nice form on the spot up shot from high school range.

Can he go ahead and extend that another step out to the college 3 pt line psychologically? It is a short distance I know but some kids get all flustered in the head where that might as well be a yard further out.

How is the step back? How is the off balance leaner in the lane? I have more questions...lets look some more...At 4:40 he is a reach-er on D. Not good at all. Lazy on D. Red Flag so far on that end.

Adequately passer at 5:04. Nice interior pass. He is always back on offense, but I cannot tell if he gets back as fast on D. That is key for Wojo guys...

Can elevate for the slam at 5:10 but he better stop bringing the ball down like that with two hands, they might call that a violation. I need to see some more handles...continue..

In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzznPgZLMP8 I am liking the corner jumper a great deal. Again, lets see him get his shot blocked in a college game or practice and see how he responds...has a decent floater.

The jury is still out on his defense...if you guys like him, I guess...I do not see what you see. He is, okay. I'll keep watching, perhaps.

Out of a 1-10 or 1 to 5 star recruit I say he is a solid 3 star and only because of the jumper. I think that is fundamentally sound. No real tangible off the charts attribute.

No quick first step, no overly great explosiveness, average length and he runs okay. Maybe they know the kid more. But at first glance not really eye popping.

No, he didn't.

He hit some shots, that's it. But on that basis I guess that is great because this team has lacked shot makers.

He squares up nice and goes straight up and has an okay release and follow through. That's all...I saw.

He can put it down a bit but limited wiggle through traffic. Let me find another video more to my liking...

I've never seen him play in person, but after doing some research here's my take:

Long(6'5 with a 6'8 wingspan) slashing wing player who's a solid finisher in the lane and at the rim. Not an AMAZING athlete, but a very solid athlete at this level. Highly regarded as a defender and can guard several positions(195 lbs). Has the ability to score but not a 3 point threat.

Here are some stats from this season as of January 3rd
25.2 ppg
6 rebs
1.5 steals- uses length on Defense
0.5 turnovers- takes care of the ball
2P%- 62%- Real solid finisher around the hoop
3P%- only 2 of 6 on the season- not really a threat
FT%- 82%- very good for a high schooler
Okay, now that is my take on him...too. And I made my post even before reading this.

To me he is nothing special and they have guys now better than him.

I would pass on him. But if you say he can defend I have to take your word for it, because I did not see that in the video.

He looks average to me. And I did not read any of these posts before I saw the video which was the 2nd or 3rd post in this thread so I am not saying something because you said it.

I gave you my take on him there...and now you confirmed it. Good.

I like hearing that he's a coaches son.  Should be solid fundamentally.  247 Sports has 71% predicting to MU.

Tell me I am not nuts...he kind of looks like Jabari Parker...a bit from the eyes down. Doesn't he?

Lets hope he is like Jabari even 30% of him on the court...but he does look like JP12 to me a bit.

The lack of high-major company we're keeping with in this recruitment is puzzling. So, Wojo now has the monopoly on talent evaluation?! Only Wojo sees what others miss? Seems unlikely.

Then again, go look at the list of schools that offered Matt Heldt.

Late bloomer.  Coaches kid.  Considered a hard worker and a scrappy type of player by Jay Bee.  This is the type of player you oftentimes are going to get in the spring signing period.  If Wojo wants him, I understand and am fine with that.

Sacar is not a player you get for next year or even the year after.  He is a kid that develops nicely in a program, gets progressively more minutes as he matures and is a solid contributor by the time he is a senior.  We don't need instant stars right now, we need long term growth to replace the likes of Duane and Sandy.

If he accepts, I'll be thrilled with that if we get a solid PG grad transfer and a big man Juco.  The roster looks like this then from a depth perspective

PG:  Grad transfer, Nick N, Duane
SG:  Duane, Haanif, Sacar
SF:  Sandy, Wally, JjJ, Sacar
PF:  Henry, Teve, Juco
C:    Luke, Heldt, Juco

Wojo's seen him a bunch in person and I have only seen internet videos so I'll defer to Wojo.  But it's key for Wojo to hit on these next 3 scholarships, even if not all are used this year.

I don't know that he has to hit on all three this year.  He's gotta get a PG that can play right away next year, that's a must.  Ideally, you'd also like a long term PG solution in that mix, but not a "have to" if Nick, Haanif, and/or Duane are the long term solution at the 1.  You'd also like a serviceable big man back up to Luke and Henry to allow Heldt to develop.

2 out of the 3 scholarships are "luxury" items, only one is a must get scholarship IMO.  Having said that, if Wojo misses on one or two of these, it does put much more pressure on landing an extremely solid 2016 class.  Or if Nick doesn't come, than 2 of 3 are critical instead of 1 of 3.

I've always thought 6'4 was generous for sacar, in comparing him next to Jarvis Johnson on the court.

At this point Sacar is an off guard version of Derrick Wilson. He is already thick, solid defender, and needs work on the jumper

I see it the same way.  I still think we have a hole at PG.  Wojo needs a veteran that can play acceptably well next year.  I see Duane as more of a 2.

I hate hearing 'he needs work on his jumper."

I wish and hope for the guys that already 'have a nice stroke' or 'have a good range.'  But, it sounds like he has strength, can play D, and can slash.

A vast majority of top-tier basketball players are below average outside shooters coming into college. They're typically quicker and more athletic than their competition in HS so they don't need it. The ability to shoot comes later. Watch the McD game. Very few of even the very best HS players in the country have good outside shots.

Yes, of course.  It goes with the territory.  When you are the fastest, biggest, best jumper on the floor.....there is no need to shoot outside of 15'.  However, there are plenty of good HS shooters--even from this state.  I have seen a lot of guys come through MU in the recent past that weren't good shooters and that stayed true throughout their tenure here.

Saw some AAU video from last summer, and his mechanics have improved quite a bit since then. Form looks pretty good, just needs to speed up his release. That will come with reps at the college level.

High school teammates of Reid Travis & Jarvis Johnson all throughout high school & played on the historic Howard Pulley AAU team in the summers.

Major colleges have seen Sacar play countless times. Yet still has zero high major offers for some reason

from the most recent video his jumper looks improved compared to his video from a year ago.  He sets his feet and squares his shoulders.  That is a big part of shooting right off the back.  Do I think he is a great shooter (no) but keeping mechanics simple is a pretty big part of shooting. JJ has a strange arm movement. Derrick puts his hands and elbows to close together.  Steve shoots it from to far over his head.   I think he is going to be a better college player then people think.  Just because he does not project as a pro at this point does not mean he cannot be a good college player.  By all accounts he is a hard worker and has improved allot in the last year.   DW was so much bigger then all the other player's in the country when he was a FR and SOPH and that is why he was rated as highly as he was. He stopped improving as a Soph in high school.  So comparing Amin and DW is not a good comparison.

He has one ;)

Sounds like Anim has improved notably over the past year. Just because we're the first doesn't mean we'll be the last. Seems like he held off on committing in hopes a big senior year would get him more attention, and it worked.

So, Wojo has said that he will only offer scholarships to players he thinks can contribute.   He offers one of his 3 available scholarships to what appears to be a late blooming shooting guard, a coach's kid, with good athleticism, decent defense, and an improving jumpshot.   Because this kid is a late bloomer, MU is the first official offer from a high major.    Instead of congratulating Wojo for getting on this kid first, there are those who are critical.    I love this place.

Sounds like Wojo's type of player.  Best attribute I saw in video was his ability to finish with his off hand (left) going to the basket.  Good size for his position.  Is he quick enough though?  Seems like a decent prospect at this stage of the game given the current roster complexion, and for how many scholarships we have open at present.

The shot form is smooth and solid, you can work with it.  He just starts it too low.  He'll learn pretty quick at the D1 level that you can't catch it at your belly button and drop it down to your waste before going into your shooting motion.  But there are no weird hitches in the form that make it hard to fix (JJJ).  I think he'll be just fine, not a star for a couple years but definitely worth spending 1 of 3 scholarships on.

MU isn't in a position to round out its roster with 4 star players.  At the end of the day they'll always need to take guys a little under the radar 3 star guys that are borderline high major players.  Based on his background and the other schools involved, he looks to be as worthy of a scholarship as any of the other names involved with MU at this point.
