Just to set the record straight, Paul Diehl is a Spanish teacher at UD High.  He is not famous or well connected and would laugh at the insinuation that he was.  For all of the CUB alumni reading this, Paul was a few years ahead of me at UD and good friend or my brother so I know him.  I was there when Senior Biela and Rodriquez were the Spanish teachers.

I will tell him to put in a good word for MU to Cassius.
Spanish teacher? I thought he was with North Star.

bilsu

Assuming he is really good, he should expect to start day 1 at MU, because he would be the only true point guard.

My question about this recruit is: Does he float like a butterfly and sting like a bee?

Glad I wasn't the only one with the same thought.

We don't need any tampering with recruits!

Had Senor Diehl Junior year at The High.

If he chooses MU, we could adapt the last sentence to read:

Witnessed Sam Hauser from Stevens Point in action last night, and he is the REAL DEAL. His brother isn't to
bad either as a 6-7 Freshman. Game was out of hand midway thru the 1st qtr. Coach called off the dogs.

Clearly Wojo only offered Sam in the hopes of one day landing his younger brother.

I heard the coaches son, who is also on the U of D team, is going to MU next year to be a manager. I have no idea is Cassius and the kid are friends or not, but lets hope they are.

Someone's quitting the University of Detroit basketball team to be a student manager at MU?  I assume that he was a walk on.  Do you know if that's correct?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

U of D HS. Think MUHS equivalent.

I'm sure Cassius Winston and the rest of the Cubs could take MUHS on the basketball court right now.

I'm not so sure about that. Marquette's team is pretty good this year. They took Germantown down to the wire, losing by 3 this year. Germantown has lost, what, 1 time in the last 3 seasons, including setting the record for most straight wins in WIAA boys basketball history, and won 3 straight State Titles? They've been ranked in the top 25 in the country for much of that run. I believe that's 1 of 2 Marquette losses this season.

I'm going to watch Cassius tonight as UofD takes on my Alma mater, Brother Rice. The game is at 7:30 at Rice if anyone around Detroit is interested. Tomorrow I'll report back with a scouting report.

Don't worry, I'll be decked out in MU gear.

The Rice/UofD game is at 7:30, MU game is at 9:00, and I live less than a mile away. I'll be able to make both.

First off, Rice with a big win last night beating UofD 58-53. As for Cassius, he didn't have the best game. My takeaways are that he has really good court vision, handles the rock well, can get to the rim when he wants, but last night his shot wasn't falling. My guess would be that he finished with around 18 points mostly coming from layups and free throws. He did hit two 3s, but also had some bad bricks. I can definitely see why he's so highly ranked and I would love for him to come to Marquette, but last night was an off night for sure.

More importantly, did you make it home in time to witness MU's gutsy performance for the first 8 minutes of the game?

His shot wasn't falling? Sign him up, he'll fit right in.
